Unfortunately the flag that is so strongly associated with the Ku Klux Klan is the confederate battle flag, not the Stars n Bars.
Perhaps if some good ol boys had intervened and knocked some heads when they saw their symbol being appropriated by the klanners...
Those pictures were taken in the 1920’s when the Ku Klux Klan was at its height of political power, if I remember correctly.
