EXCLUSIVE — TED CRUZ: OBAMATRADE ENMESHED IN CORRUPT, BACKROOM DEALINGS

As a general matter, I agree (as did Ronald Reagan) that free trade is good for America; when we open up foreign markets, it helps American farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers. But TPA in this Congress has become enmeshed in corrupt Washington backroom deal-making, along with serious concerns that it would open up the potential for sweeping changes in our laws that trade agreements typically do not include. Since the Senate first voted on TPA, there have been two material changes. First, WikiLeaks subsequently revealed new troubling information regarding the Trade in Services Agreement, or TiSA, one of the trade deals being negotiated by Obama. Despite the administration’s public assurances that it was not negotiating on immigration, several chapters of the TiSA draft posted online explicitly contained potential changes in federal immigration law. TPA would cover TiSA, and therefore these changes would presumably be subject to be fast-track. When TPA last came up for a vote, both Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)80% and I introduced amendments that would have barred fast-track treatment for any trade agreement that attempted to impact immigration law. Two other Republican senators objected, and we were both denied votes on our amendments. Instead, the House inserted substantially weaker language in related legislation.

Like Reagan, Cruz in theory supports free trade, but upon looking closer at the details of this deal, Cruz has decided that THIS particular deal is not worthy of support.

Cruz’s betrayal of his supporters (and there were many)
was not a momentary thing.
The appearance of impropriety, the conflict of interest,
and the SECRECY were brought up to him over and over.
I heard him twice on the radio discuss it in interview.

It was not a momentary thing.

He chose Obama and SECRECY and foreign governments
and Goldmann Sachs
over his supporters and the US Constitution.

No doubt. But then they never would have voted for anyone but a liberal in GOP clothing anyway. They already proved that with Romney.

First support for Romney with their vote, then support for Mitch and Jonbon telling us we had to take the H/S ‘no matter what and they got two more libs into power, Now they are dumping Cruz.

Thats THREE elections straight (FOUR if you want to count the torpedoing of Palin) these abject liars will have come here screaming about being rock Ribbed right wingers and voting for someone other than the most conservative or even CLOSE to the most conservative person available.

I don’t think his opponents are going to succeed in making him ‘pay’ for anything. Texans back their Senator Cruz immensely.

I would bet seriously that Ted talked personally with some of his most influential constituents to inform them of why he was reversing his vote which had to do with the amendments that Boehner let liberals attach and the amendments by conservatives that Boehner killed.

How do you make an error this large?

Why would any Conservative trust Obama and give him power to make trade deals?

Cruz had to know that this would upset his base and yet he did it anyway!

A man who is going to be President can't be making mistakes like that.

Good point.

The point made in asking the question about Senator Sessions and his foreign policy vote was not to disparage Senator Sessions. The point was to show that if you criticize Ted Cruz on secret legislation, then you have to also criticize Sessions on secret legislation to avoid looking like a hypocrite.

The HONEST approach to take in all this confusion is to simply answer “I DON’T KNOW, I DON’T HAVE ALL THE FACTS”.

Oh. So Reagan, who made a far bigger error and admitted it, would turn the party over to Dem funding Trump, Chamber bought Walker, The Jeb/Perry axis of Mexico, An anti 2A Carson....but not a guy well over 90%.

Ha! That’s exactly what you’ve done...with your R-E-P-E-A-T-E-D posts, asking the same (irrelevant) question about Sen Sessions...in ALL CAPS.

Why did BOTH Cruz and Sessions vote FOR the S-E-C-R-E-T Iran deal? Why is Cruz the only C-O-N-S-E-R-V-A-T-I-V-E who *was* FOR the trade deal?

You’re as guilty of S-P-A-M-M-I-N-G, as the guy you’re complaining about.
