South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham will call Monday for the removal of the confederate flag from state grounds, a source familiar with the decision told CNN.
Graham, a 2016 presidential candidate, will make his announcement during a press conference with South Carolina's Republican governor, Nikki Haley, at 4 p.m. Monday.

I worked up in Boston for a time and trust me they are still fighting the war up there.
The confederate battle flag was put up by a hateful democrat (Fritz Hollings) in the 60’s to give the finger to the civil rights movement... Democrats used the same tactics against blacks that they now use against us...
A compromise was done over the flag years ago and still the left want to fight their own agreement.
The media are driving this while the Dems are driving the gun issue.
It is sick and twisted that these bastards want to use a tragedy to pursue their own political agenda. Sadly many on the left and some on the right fall for the media and act like frigging sheep.
Is it so hard for someone to stand up and state “stop using this tragedy to push your political agenda”.
The flag is still a lightning rod for states rights...apparently.
He wont even take his own state, that pillow biter can KMA.
EXACTLY.
Burn an American flag and it is free speech.
Ignore what and where the American flag flew and all is well.
Wage war on the “bigoted, backward hick southerners” and their battle flag will be easier.
What is funny is that most blacks here in the south could not careless about the battle flag. It’s always those elitist types from the north who come here and then moan about it while ignoring the atrocities of other flags closer to home.
To those people I say keep both flags flying regardless of where they flew or what they stand for to others i.e. native Americans or southerners.
Should have been voted out in the last election, and hopefully him being yet again a pansy, the ignorant , north and south, the media , and a coward could lose next time.
The fact that Republicans like Graham and McCain can’t even be voted out during a Republican primary in conservative states like SC and AZ is a testament to just how great the power of the party’s political machine is, and just how difficult the RNC makes it to get rid of sitting incumbents.
“The KKK flew the stars and stripes too.
The slave ships flew the stars and stripes.
The Indians were removed, killed, raped, and robbed under the stars and stripes .
The battle flag was designed to distinguish between two sides if you know your history. So answer this then.
Should the stars and stripes be removed and changed seeing as it flew over the destruction of a mass of people and flew on the slave ships?
If not then tell me why it should not be , but the battle flag should.”
The Stars & Stripes as you know is the flag of the USA.
And while there are plenty of atrocities committed like the ones you just named those wrongs have largely been made right and the USA is still a nation.
The confederate flag is the flag of a failed traitorous government.
You don’t see the union jack flying over the state house in Massachusetts and had the British won you wouldn’t see the American flag flying there either.
The whole point about taking down the flag was about atrocities and the stars and stripes has certainly been there and flew on slave ships. Yet some people want to give that a pass while saying the battle flag and it was that a battle flag to distinguish both sides taken down.
You look back ion history and people had more respect in the north for the battle flag, especially veterans on the federal side.
Today we have a bunch of idiots who know nothing about what they call for , but it sounds good or they call out of ignorance.
As for rights being wronged, don’t make me laugh.
Has the Indians been given all their lands back or is there law suits still going on to get them back?
No you and others on the left who want this flag down do so out of hatred, politics or ignorance. You want o gloss over the stars and stripes atrocities while condemning the souths war for independence and it was that independence. The south never looked to take over the north or control the north.
As for your analogy, OK lets go with it.
No American flag over MA state house if the Brits had won.
Was the Brits wanting to take over MA, yes, was the south looking to take over the north NO. That is where you analogy falls apart.
I’ve given my oath to the stars and stripes and have no problem where it flew, nor do I have a problem for people in the south to fly the battle flag .
Others on the other hand want to ignore where the stars and stripes flew and what it caused to certain segments of people slaves, Indians etc and not forget the battle flag which just flew on the battle field.
At least Grant had more compassion and respect for the south and he fought in the war than the toe rags calling for it to be taken down today. Maybe he understood what the flags represented unlike the turds today.
totally agree.
“Never let a crisis go to waste,” eh, Lindsey.
Yeah, so did I. Communist Massachusetts, the most racially segregated state in the union.
It was such a healing and wholesome service, in fact, that the Great Divider must come to the eulogy and maybe get a Holder-size riot started.
The people leading the protest against the Confederate Battle Flag aren't doing it because of their love and loyalty to the Union. They're agitating against the flag on account of Leftist political correctness, and probably have about the same love for the American flag and America's founders as they do for the Confederacy.
Unfortunately, they're able to recruit quite a few "conservative" stooges in the process by appealing to historical support for the Union, which is not what this is all about. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson aren't doing this to honor the memory of Ulysses Grant.
