A source close to the situation says Gov. Nikki Haley is formulating a plan with State House leaders to remove the Confederate flag from the State House grounds.

Details are limited, but Haley is holding a news conference on Monday at 4 p.m., according to a release from the governor's office.

The governor's office stopped short of saying the reasons for the news conference.

South Carolina House Speaker Jay Lucas has already called for "swift resolution" on the Confederate flag issue.

There’s an interesting point that, for a memorial dedicated to SC Confederate soldiers, the Palmetto Flag would be more appropriate than the ANoVA flag anyways.

There are two good alternate options. One is the circa 1861 Palmetto Flag (blue) or the Citadel’s “Big Red”, both of which (I think) also happen to have the crescent moon reversed.

I am imagine we will see alot more of conferderate flags on private property after it is removed. Take Virgina where some people are putting up Huge conferdate FLags on I95 outside of Fredricksburg after confederate flags were taken down at museums. Never would have gone to museums but now I see it every time I drive on I95

Good. There is no need to fly it on state house grounds. It should be relegated to museums. If individuals are so attached to the flag, let them fly it in their front yard.

the flag was put there in the 1960s and given the events of the time it probably was not for so-called “heritage.” So, Democrats put it up there as a symbol of division, and Republicans will be taking it down.
So if Gov Haley does capitulate to the PC "not-sees" would the GOP be smart enough spin the flag removal this way?

I don’t really care about the flag too much one way or the other.

But if she does this, she is ending her career.

This flag represents sexual harassment.

Let's get rid of it!

and how would you characterize the people putting up such flags? (there’s a similar one here in Nashville on I-65, where some neo-secessionist loon has put up an equestrian statue of NB Forrest that looks like it was made out of masticated trident gum.)

probably will see more of it as an act of defiance.. See I95 flag near Fredricksburg on private owned property. It is size of USA flag you see Car Dealersships. Huge. More pepoole see that flag than the flags that were at museum that were taken down that caused this response.

Given the known history of that flag, I’m surprised that they didn’t encourage its removal from public display—let alone being part a state flag!—back in the 1960’s when the Civil Rights movement was strong enough to get it done.

Of course. Cower. Surrender. Cede the argument to the PC Nazis that their lunatic notions have merit. Kick off Andrew Jackson off the dollar bill, too. Force the Washington Redskins to change their name. Wave the flag of surrender to every tinpot lib fascist. Yep, keep empowering them. Just like they insist banning anyone from bringing Crosses and Bibles from anyplace on school grounds. Erase all our founding fathers from our history books. Cower, surrender, and grovel before your fascist masters.

Americans have become spineless wimps. A total disgrace to all our ancestors who built this nation. It’s become impossible to have anything but disgust and contempt for this entire generation of Americans.

It was under a Democrat governor that Mississippi got to even hold our flag vote, when other states’ voters, under Republican governors, were having the issue taken out of their hands. He even had reason to know beforehand how it would go, and he still kept his campaign promise. He wasn’t even a “blue-dog” Democrat, though of course not close to being a NE progressive type.

See I95 flag near Fredricksburg on private owned property.
Also, on I-75 just east of Tampa near the fairgrounds, ironically right near the exit for MLK Blvd. Though I don't recall hearing or reading of Dr. King specifically lashing out against such an inanimate object as a flag.

She's going to make the dependents of DEMOCRAT Ernest Frederick "Fritz" Hollings, 76th Governor of the State of South Carolina, 1959 to 1963, very angry.

The American Flag and the Christian Cross are both symbols of hate to the God-haters.
