There’s an interesting point that, for a memorial dedicated to SC Confederate soldiers, the Palmetto Flag would be more appropriate than the ANoVA flag anyways.

There are two good alternate options. One is the circa 1861 Palmetto Flag (blue) or the Citadel’s “Big Red”, both of which (I think) also happen to have the crescent moon reversed.

I was thinking SC Regimental flags should be used. Those are the flags that the soldiers being memorialized would of valued the most.

Perhaps that would be a good idea as an alternative - and the point should be made if someone says if there should be no memorials for Confederate soldiers that many of them were drafted.
