Sen. Sessions: Slow Fast-Track Now, Before It’s Too Late
Breitbart ^ | 6-21-2015 | Jeff Sessions

Posted on 06/21/2015 5:21:05 PM PDT by sheikdetailfeather

Fast-Track, or Trade Promotion Authority, will receive a final cloture vote in the Senate on Tuesday morning. This is the bill that passed the House. If cloture is invoked, the bill will pass the Senate and go to the President’s desk.

More than four weeks have passed since the Senate first voted on whether to grant the Executive six years of fast-track authority. In that time, an enormous amount has been discovered about how the President plans to use this authority – information that was either not known or understood when the vote was held. This includes the Administration’s pledge to use the agreement to impose “environmental governance.”

Well, it’s time to reign him in with some restrictions, some accountability, and some Congressional involvement, as well as some transparency,

GOP Leaders Set to Enable “ObamaTrade” With Fast Track for President 19 January 2015

Many Republican defenders of TPA are insisting that Fast Track is no big thing to make a fuss over, and that in no way should it be considered a transfer of power to Obama. However, in a January 6 press conference, the Senate’s top Republican, Mitch McConnell, committed the sin of candor and acknowledged what all sensible observers already knew to be the fact: that TPA is “an enormous grant of power, obviously, from a Republican Congress to a Democratic president.”
"Yeah, we're in active discussion on TPA, trade promotion authority,” McConnell told reporters. “It's an enormous grant of power, obviously, from a Republican Congress to a Democratic president, but that's how much we believe in trade as an important part of America's economy.”

In January?!

“Was he a patriot when he supported CAFTA?”

CAFTA no way near contains the sovereignty destroying agenda that lurks in this new, much larger, more elaborate, sinister trade bill. It does not come close. Can you understand? CAFTA merely extended NAFTA.

Cruz never said what you wrote.

Cruz said that with his vote in favor of a TSA that enables TPP/TiSA/TTIP .

Did you even bother to read what Sessions wrote?

He says TiSA and TTIP are still COMPLETELY SECRET. Therefore, Ted Cruz is voting to fast track and enable totally secret agreements. If that isn’t “pass it to see what’s in it”, nothing is. Put you hat on that, FRiend.

Same type of response that many Cruz supporters offer as to why votes went the way they did.

There’s only one clear reason I can see that TPA should die now, and that’s because of Boehner’s behavior and duplicity. But I can also see Cruz’ logic and reasoning but Ted will have to find a different way to represent his constituents who are pushing for TPA so that they can export their products and services.

I will bet in a major way that Senator Jeff would be all in for TPA if it was for President Cruz. So TPA is not the culprit but killing TPA pretty much kills TPP, TTIP, TISA etc. so Senator Jeff is really after killing those trade deals. Passing TPA does not mean automatically that the trade deals will pass. But there is risk when you have such corrupt people as Boehner carrying water for special interests.

We need to flip three votes

My understanding is that this version of fast-track, the one now to go before the Senate, does not include TAA, and that without TAA, Democrat Senators may flip and vote "no."

So, even those Freepers who are "represented" by Democrat Senators should call them and urge them to vote "no." You could always quote organized labor sources who are against it. This might persuade some Democrats.

You don’t understand. Cruz supports TPA, therefore TPA must be good. To think otherwise is heresy.

‘Fast Track’ Cruz says support Obama and ObamaTRADE.

RomneyCARE Ryan says support Obama and ObamaTRADE.

Obama supporter Boehner says support Obama and ObamaTRADE.

What other disgusting RINOs support the White Mosque
and Goldmann Sachs?

“Senator Sessions voted against TPA in 2002 saying the same things then that he’s saying now. That agreement expired in 2007. None of the stuff he feared back then occurred, but he’s back with the Chicken Little The Sky is Falling routine again.”

THIS particular TPA/TPP has been worked on for 6 years by the Obama administration.

“We’re in active discussion on TPA,” said McConnell, adding, “It’s an enormous grant of power, obviously, from a Republican Congress to a Democratic president, but that’s how much we believe in trade as an important part of America’s economy.”

Huffingtonpost.com 1/07/2015

Why would anyone in their right mind wish to give Obama an enormous grant of power?

And Obama dishonest, unconstitutional actions on executive amnesty, obamacare, IRS, F&F, etc., etc.? How do you feel about the kenyan’s “behavior and duplicity” there? As bad as Boehner is, he’s no rampaging Marxist intend on destroying this great country. Barack Obama is.

After all we’ve been through with Obama, why should any conservative choose to enable Obama’s trade “agreements” by lowering the votes required for passage and neutering Congress’s Constitutional role? It’s totally nuts to give him more power now.

Congress should be demanding the full, finalized text of any Obama trade “agreements” before voting on fast track. With Obama in the WH, this whole process needs maximum sunshine, period.

killing TPA pretty much kills TPP, TTIP, TISA etc. so Senator Jeff is really afterra killing those trade deals.

From the minimal information released to us peons, it appears that these agreements are mainly about two things: crony capitalism, and totalitarian social engineering. A few tariff reductions are the Trojan horse that gets the main things through.

Passing TPA does not mean automatically that the trade deals will pass.

My understanding is that as a practical matter passing TPA means exactly that: the supposedly yet-to-be negotiated deals will pass.

Good lord you are so misinformed that it’s become an annoyance to have to correct people such as you constantly on these types of threads. And if you haven’t learned by now, then either you have a serious disability or you are a troll.

Here’s the correction:

Ted Cruz is not ‘enabling’ any ‘secret’ legislation whatsoever in any of these trade issues. He has emphatically said as clear as can be that keeping TPP secret is STUPID and he has called on Obama to make TPP public NOW.

What Ted Cruz has said is that TPA (which is NOT a trade agreement and is NOT secret) REQUIRES that any trade deal that uses TPA be made public for at least 60 days prior to voting up or down.

So Ted is banking on the American people to learn what’s really in the TPP or TIPP or TISA etc. once they are made public by TPA and to contact their representatives in Congress to vote them down if they contain things that are harmful.

Now my problem with all of this is not TPA, not Ted Cruz, not Senator Sessions, but with people like BOEHNER who are confirmed now to be representing special interests and not the will of the American people. Therefore, Ted is putting the fate of all these trade deals into the hands of people like Boehner and that is a major mistake.

The issue is SECRECY and the passage of bill
NO ONE HAS COMPLETELY READ which give more
power to an unConstitutional executive branch.

Toast Cruz = Boehner = Ryan = GOP = Obama

and it will NEVER be forgotten.

You should wait until the TPP and the other trade agreements are made public before concluding or speculating what’s in them.

> “My understanding is that as a practical matter passing TPA means exactly that: the supposedly yet-to-be negotiated deals will pass.”

That’s completely false. TPA requires any trade agreement that uses it be made public at least 60 days prior to an up or down vote on the trade agreement. Therefore, the American people will have a chance to contact their representatives in Congress about their preferences.

BUT, .... Congress does not appear to function reliably any longer as a representatives body for the American people because of people like Boehner who are now confirmed to go against the will of the voters while representing special interests.

You’re wrong and you should read through the thread if you’re interested in learning and being informed. Otherwise you’re just a misinformed heckler.

Here’s one for you which I KNOW YOU WILL NOT ANSWER because it destroys you whole schtick:

WHY DID SENATOR JEFF SESSIONS VOTE ‘Y-E-S’ ON THE SECRET IRAN DEAL WHICH IS TRULY TREATY-LIKE MATERIAL?

Hmmm? I predict crickets on this from you.

You accuse everyone and misinform as you demand
posters answer your quite irrelevant questions.

1. The TPA/TPP/Tetc. were separated and misnamed
to deflect from their SECRECY and transfer of power
to Obama from the Congress.

2. Sessions is a Patriot unlike the ObamaTRADE-loving
Toast Cruz who is also entangled through his wife in
the appearance of impropriety.
