Rush Limbaugh's woes in the ratings game of partisan talk radio are being highlighted by his left-wing enemies, Media Matters is gleefully reporting that the radio talk show host is on a downward slide.
Salon puts this headline on the piece, "Rush Limbaugh’s downward spiral continues: Another demotion, another step toward irrelevancy."
The piece highlights a recent move down the radio dial Limbaugh was forced to make after being dumped by his host station in Boston, Mass.
Limbaugh is still on the air in Boston but the conservative radio talk show has a new AM home in the city and it "currently boasts a 0.6 rating, trails four non-commercial stations in the market, and becomes yet another big-city, cellar-dwelling outpost that Limbaugh is forced to call home," Salon reports.
The have a lot more Rush bashing here.
Earlier, the New York Daily News revealed that sagging ratings might mean less money for Limbaugh in his next contract noting that "the ratings for syndicated conservative talk have flattened or dropped for several years, despite the gift of a Democratic President to hammer, and some think the format is wearing down."
Daryl Parks, a former talk host, media blogger and self-described Republican is quoted by NYDN and has the opinion that the schtick is wearing thin,
“Today’s talk radio is fast fading into the sunset because of a format stuck with 1990s rhetoric,” he says.
“A constant right-wing political drumbeat no longer resonates.”
The article notes that Rush "lost many advertisers after the Sandra Fluke birth control controversy in 2012, and that could affect what his syndicator, Premiere, will offer when his eight-year, $50 million a year deal expires in 2016."
Despite the ratings woes and aging demographics for the show he is still the "face of syndicated conservative talk radio," according to the NYDN.
Rush isn’t entertaining anymore. No song parodies, no funny fake ads.
And Rush, like Mark and Sean, hasn’t been honest about Hussein. All three of them, and most other talkers, have participated in the Conspiracy of Respectability about the crudely-forged “birth certificate”—the one typed on six different typewriters—and all the other evidence that Hussein is an illegal-alien foreign agent.
Nobody goes to Rush for information anymore. He offers philosophical musings and mildly amusing comments on ephemeral news items.
Burns and Allen. Jack Benny. Fibber McGee and Molly. All of them: two 60-second commercials in 30 minutes.
I would add one more:
(4) three years after his misuse of OxyContin, Limbaugh was detained at the Palm Beach International Airport, arriving from a "private vacation in the Dominican Republic" carrying a bottle of Viagra prescribed under a different name. Was Limbaugh's trip actually a "sex tour"?
Several years ago WJR in Detroit moved Savage into the two hour 3 - 5 PM Hannity time slot and Savage bragged for months.
Of course what he failed to mention is that the Patriot network picked up Hannity, gave him 3 hours ( 3 - 6 p.m.)and put him on both their AM 1400 station AND their 92.7 FM station..........LOL!
Yeah, because you know SO much more about running a successful radio show than he does.
This is why schools have bells and periods, to prevent the habit of investigating anything in depth.
The lesson of the bells is to study a subject when and how someone else tells you to.
Mass government schooling has always been about establishing intellectual dependence.
Rush is from Missouri ya know. Like those others from Missouri, Tom and Huck, Rush will show up at his own funeral
I’ve not listened to Rush in about six years. He’s boring and transparent. I enjoy the give and take online, better.
Nope he doesn't broadcast in Spanish. </s>
Cites Salon and Media Matters. I quit reading right there.
John had a good TV show on FOX until he said the wrong thing. I forget what he said but the PC crowd went bonkers I guess.
Rush at his weight would never get past the physical but pilonidal cyst seems to be the stated reason for his 4F rating.
Hannity could cover 25% more stuff if he didn't repeat himself so much.
Just wait until the liberals make their own radio station by stealing money from charities. Then he’ll really be off the air...Oh wait. they tried that.
In those days commercials were limited by the FCC. Today a one hour TV show is more like 38 minutes with commercials and what happened previously removed.
Agreed...during the 2012 election, I got so sick of the repetitive catchphrases that I yelled at the radio.
Rush is right, Sandra Fluke is a slut!
