Boehner Denies Conservative Amendments to Obamatrade Deal – But Allows Democrats to Amend the Bill
RightWingNews ^ | 18 Jun 15 | Greg Campbell

John Boehner is simply one of the worst Speakers this nation has ever endured. More hostile to conservatives than to far-left liberals, Boehner’s leadership jeopardizes our country more and more each day and his latest slight against conservative efforts to curtail Obama’s powergrabs is simply enraging:

Speaker John Boehner refused to allow conservative Republican amendments to the Obamatrade deal – But he allowed Democrats to amend the legislation. Unbelievable.

Last week, leadership galvanized Jordan and his allies by refusing to allow Republican amendments to TPA, even as they negotiated with Democrats in an attempt to rally enough votes to make up for the GOP defections. “So, the Democrats basically got to amend the process; we didn’t,” Jordan says. “That’s a frustration that members have, as well.”

Jordan had offered to deliver about two dozen votes for TPA, enough for Republicans to pass the bill without Democratic help, on three conditions: that GOP leadership include an amendment that sets up “checkpoints” at which the Republican conference could decide if the trade agreement proceeds; that they kill a union-friendly job-training program for workers affected by the free-trade deal, which Senate Republicans had backed in order to win Democratic votes; and that Boehner promise not to allow a vote on the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank. (Jordan wanted Boehner’s word on Ex-Im because Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had promised to allow a vote on the bank’s reauthorization in order to get Democrats to drop their filibuster of the trade package.)

In order to avoid having to send the bill back to the Senate, GOP leadership rebuffed all of Jordan’s demands. “They told us to pound sand, so that’s why we did what we did,” says one Freedom Caucus member who joined the procedural revolt.

There is a war on conservatism and make no mistake: this is a war lead by both Democrats and so-called “Republicans.”

Trade promotion authority or fast track gives up the 66% Senate approval the Constitution requires to pass a trade bill. that is thrown away for a simple 51% up or down vote in Congress, no debate and no amendments. It also gives up amendments . What this equals is a an Obama dictatorship as treaties override U.S. laws.It makes these bills unstoppable as no amendments are now allowed and only 51% to pass .

so fast track = obama rewriting U.S. immigration laws, gun laws etc. = the end of America

Republicans supposedly control the House and Senate, so 51% should be enough to prevent anti-American provisions in TPP to pass on an up-down vote of the entire bill.

So, if worker mobility, loss of sovereignty, rampant immigration, loss of border enforcement, ANYTHING negative is in that bill, then our supposed leaders should vote it down.

How many think they will? I think the chamber of commerce owns both the republicans and the democrats. Wall Street gets rich, but main street doesn’t even keep pace. It’s as simple as that.

It’s madness to destroy the Constitution that requires 66% approval for treaties: to change that to 50% is madness. And added to that with no amendments allowed it basically turns the USA into a dictatorship. of course it would be easy for Obama to get 50% for some 5000 page country destroying Amnesty disguised as “free trade” . This bill is akin to the enabling act given to Hitler or the treaty in Atlas Shrugged. Anyone who supports this is mad

I’m genuinely curious - if not voting, what’s your solution? How else can we effect political change?

We are kinda at the duck analogy: You know, “If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck?”

I’d like to thing that they are being forced to vote with Ophonybama because they fear the LIEberals “outing” them more than they fear the voters “outing” them.

But, I have been wrong before . . . .

Boehner. Has. To. Go.

But, because the Democrats love him, it would take 100% of the GOP’s House members to unseat him, and that just isn’t going to happen.

We are so screwed with both Boehner and McConnell.

“So, the Democrats basically got to amend the process; we didn’t,” Jordan says. “That’s a frustration that members have, as well.”

Then perhaps Congressman Jordan shouldn't have voted for Boehner for Speaker. Jordan is a fine American and a true patriot, but this "go along to get along" in the House Republican Conference has to stop immediately.

Jordan is organizing. At the time of the speakership vote, iirc, he was indicating that he really didn’t want the job. I can see that. There’s jobs I don’t want.

It’s possible he’s an honest man. I sure hope so. I hope there’s a few up there. I’m about to give up on my supposed conservative congressman from the 2d district, Ohio. I’m thinking he might need to be primaried.

Nothing like a challenge, eh?

Positive change is not going to come through politics at all. Can you think of one or two positive life changes that have come your way as a result of government? If not, then why spend time on something that isn’t making your life better?

Ultimately I think the way to be free is to simply be free. The time you spend weeding your tomatoes is far more productive than any time you spend in politics. So, why not spend your time in productive pursuits and by avoiding the negative impacts of government on your life?
