An advocacy group run by the Rev. Al Sharpton is set to announce a reward for information leading to the arrest of the white man who opened fire inside a prayer meeting inside a historic black church in Charleston, South Carolina, killing nine people including its prominent pastor.
The Harlem-based National Action Network is expected to announce an award for the gunman in the Wednesday night massacre at Emmanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, a landmark in the heart of the genteel southern city, as authorities continue to hunt for the suspect in what they’re calling a hate crime.
"I am shocked and outraged about the killing of nine innocent people at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. What has our society come to when people in a prayer meeting in the sacred halls of a church can be shot,” Sharpton said in a statement Thursday.
Mayor de Blasio, Brooklyn borough president Eric Adams, and a group of black pastors in Newark are also expected to deliver remarks on the shooting at some point Thursday. The NYPD, meanwhile, says it plans to add additional patrols at houses of worship Thursday, a law enforcement official tells NBC 4 New York.

I don't recall the Mayor or even the governor of South Carolina making remarks when the two cops were killed in NYC...
Guess they can't let a good crisis go to waste...
