Wenner freeing up money to defend the UVA lawsuits by cutting staff. It is hard to keep from thinking this might have something to do with the UVA thing, but (a) they'll never admit it, and (b) the old-line media ain't doin' so hot these days.

If they can boost advertising revenue, they can save those jobs. They just need a really big story to draw a lot of attention to their in-depth reporting. Maybe they could find a photogenic female victim of a violent frat boy crime. That should work.
