It certainly isn’t cut and dried.

I posted this on another thread and will add it here for this thread and our discussion:

Do you know why these trade deals are done quietly, held back until they’re ready to be reviewed?

Let me toss this out there for you.

When you are negotiating a trade deal with multiple countries (and working to get the best deal for your country) you don’t sit everyone down at the table, or allow every country to see what the other countries are offering, accepting.

If this was an open book, each country would want exactly what the other country negotiated for and got (or whine that they deserve more, etc) and there never would be any trade agreement to vote on.

And I’ll add, Congress has given Obama a lot of input on this. They’re putting their names and reputations on the line by say that this is good for the country (we’ll have 60 days to know if that is true). This isn’t a deal that was designed and generated solely out of the White House.

I would trust Reagan, and even Clinton or LBJ to behave reasonably. The current asshat has shown an eagerness to throw away historical international relations and favor the islamic hoards. If a president wants freedom to negotiate an unalterable agreement, that president needs to be much more trustworthy than the current resident.
