What worries me is what happens next.
I am 100% disabled, wheelchair disabled. Can’t use my arms (Typing this hurts)because of spine damage.
I kept working up to 2012 when I finally had to give up and apply for disability. (Still haven’t gotten it).
My wife still works. Next year our insurance premium is going to be approx. $900.00 per month. We get no subsidy. That’s gonna be almost her whole check.
Does anyone believe when this stupid social experiment collapses, that insurers are going to roll back these insane premiums. We are scared. I have huge medical expenses, and our savings are gone.
These a$$holes in DC have screwed up my medical situation so much already, and I fear they are about to make it worse.
If you are 100% Disabled, how is it that you are still waiting to receive SS Disability after three years time?

Seriously, if you applied in 2012, you will receive a Lump Sum Payment for the time your Application was in process.
You should also be eligible for Medicare two Years from your Application Date (I believe). That should help with your Healthcare Premiums.
We currently pay $1,900 a Month for our Healthcare. Since I have two forms of Leukemia, I cannot get a cheaper Catastrophic Plan. One round of Chemo, or the possible Bone Marrow Transplant we are discussing would Bankrupt us.

I too am emptying my Retirement Funds paying for Healthcare Premiums that cost more than our Mortgage. Yes, I’m waiting to see what the 2016 Premium will look like.
I hope things work out for you. If Disability keeps you hanging, it might be a good idea to get an Attorney. They take part of the back Payments you are due so you shouldn’t have any out of pocket costs. Good luck and God Bless.

The reason it’s taking so long is we had a lawyer and a judge here that cheated the system for about 7 years. They estimate there are at least 1000 people here that shouldn’t have gotten disability, but did.
As a result they quit hearing cases in the closest court and consolidated all to a city 70 miles away.
I actually had one person tell me their sister got it because she “stole” all the time. Go figure.
It seems that People who claim to have “Mental” issues breeze through. What surprises me is that many are very Young and haven't paid much into Social Security.
I guess the “fake” Black College Professor would get approved for SS Disability in a heartbeat. She is certifiable.
Anyway, keep in plugging. If you don't have an Attorney, get one. This shouldn't be something you have to deal with alone. The Bureaucracy be damned. Take care my FRiend. Let me know how things work out.
I’m Tri-Care Prime and wife recently transitioned to Tri-Care for Life...At least we get the upside of the system compared to those who are fully enmeshed in O-Care.

at an income of $15,000 per year, you should get a hefty subsidy. Unless you get income above what your wife makes?
