WASHINGTON, DC: When it comes to increasing skilled workers on H-1B visas, one could say presidential candidate Ted Cruz is a bit of a black sheep amongst the GOP.The Republican presidential candidate wants to increase the H-1B visas by 500 percent from its 65,000 to 325,000.
Cruz, who announced his run for the Oval office this morning, had made the proposition in 2013 as an amendment to the Senate’s comprehensive immigration bill.While the Senate’s Judiciary Committee torpedoed Cruz’s amendment, they did approve an increase of 180,000 in the H-1B cap, but the House never acted on the legislation.It’s not clear if Cruz had only the base 65,000 H-1B visas for skilled workers from around the globe to emigrate to the US in mind, and he didn’t want to include the 20,000 other H-1B visas which are allocated especially for students who graduate from universities in the US.

No, shut down the H1B and AMERICAN WORKERS will go overseas. Foreign banks and other multinationals will not want to set up operations in the US if they can’t hire who ever they want. So they will set up overseas and hire top American workers to go overseas.
Maybe you don’t understand pay for performance. Do you understand the concepts of commission or bonuses? Do you think that commissions and bonuses can apply to foreign workers?
You said there were Americans doing the SAME JOB. That means there was no shortage of Americans that could fill the position. Therefore your whole reason for being hired in the USA was bogus, So go away you fraud.
Wrong. For example, a company needs 10 engineers capable of designing helicopter avionics. They have 9 Americans already working doing the job but they need one more, so they use an H1-B. You are too quick to call a Freeper a fraud. Most people on H1bs work with Americans doing the same job.

By the way, in that helicopter avionics example...if you eliminate the H1B then all 7 of the 9 Americans get fired. The top 2 Americans move with their company to Portugal or some other country and hire 15 local workers to replace the 7 Americans who were fired.
What kind of threat is that? The USA was fine without H-1bs and you know what? The USA would have been fine if you had stayed in your third world hell hole.

I just listened to a company all staff for my section of a big IT company talking about recent and future layoffs and how they understood it was painful but they were able to recently hire some back(not the same ones do course) because they used their offshore and “bestshore” locations to save money, because let’s face it, that’s the kind of business we are in today.
Couldn’t get any more obvious than that. Love the term best shore, as if we didn’t know what that meant as we fear for our own jobs.
They are blatant and unafraid now, and honestly there are many of us left to let go. Their goal is to be 70% offshore. This is an American IT company people...get a clue. H1bs are destroying the IT industry as a career for American workers.
