Black students in New York state are 44 percent more likely than white students to have a teacher rated “ineffective” in math, and 35 percent more likely to have one rated “ineffective” in English, startling new figures from the state Education Department show. The unprecedented analysis stemmed from the results of the statewide teacher-evaluation system, which for the first time required student performance on standardized exams to factor into teachers’ ratings.

IMO, any teacher who uses "Ebonics" -- in any classroom other than a graduate-level "Linguistics" class -- should be fired summarily, and blackballed from all institutions of learning.
It is worth noting that the Justice Department is coming down on school districts that have disciplinary actions that are racially imbalanced. That’s sure to result in better schools and better educational outcomes for blacks!

Yes, yes they were. A real life case of "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it".
I seem to also remember a story about Bill Clinton when he was Gov of Arkansas and he had promised to fire incompetent teachers (as part of improving education in Arkansas). When he got the report back on the most incompetent teachers, it was mostly black. He knew he couldn't fire all those black teachers, so they just fired a certain percentage (after taking a poll to see what percentage the populace would accept), and that was how he dealt with it. A lot of the incompetent teachers remained; but, something was done by the politician in charge, so everything was okay.
She showed me the ‘correct’ answer in the back of the arithmetic book - to prove she was right. It was a misprint. I showed her why the answer in the back of the book was wrong. By DOING the math problem... She glared at me as asked if I thought I was smarter than the people who wrote books. I backed off - concerned she would take out her rage on my son - and fully aware that she was too stupid to do long division with a remainder.
Since the left runs the schools, they have no one to blame but themselves.
Of course they won’t. The insane reasons offered up will be “white privileged” and evil Republicans who won’t give schools even more money.

Your story reminds me of a practice test I took at Mortar school. They had us scale distances on a miltary map all the time...rather than scale, though, I just took the difference in grid coordinates and did the pythagorean formula to get the answer. Anyway the answer key on the practice test wasn’t right, and I made the mistake of pointing it out to the AA instructor. Not everyone in the army needs to know geometry, but I was shocked that an instructor at the army’s only mortar school was so ignorant of even basic geometry - mortars btw are similar to artillery.

These stats often get manipulated to show whatever they the administrators want to show. The gage of whether the teacher is effective or ineffective may be completely subjective. Also there is nothing to prevent a principal from controlling which students get assigned to which class. Principals can load up one teacher’s class with all the behavior problems and another teacher’s class with all the best students.

Was HS junior when integration in south meant trading teachers from ‘across the tracks’ to our little school. As a English major, was ‘funny’ to be ‘taught’ by a teacher that said ‘get out yer pencers an peper’.

Cant put the blame on the blacks themselves who come riht out and say studying and good grades is acting white.

Homeschooling parents are of the opinion that there are little or no effective teachers.
But in defense of many teachers, their primary mission, even if unofficial, is probably making sure that unruly kids don’t kill each other.
