Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)96%, a 2016 Republican presidential candidate, defended his decision to vote for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) that would fast-track the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) and Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA)among other dealsduring a Thursday interview with the Hugh Hewitt radio program.
Hewitt started his line of questioning with coming out of a commercial. Lets take that opportunity, then, to go and talk about free tradeTPA, TPP, Export-Import Bank. Sen. Cruz, for claritys sake, can you quickly give us an overview on where you are on those three issues, as theres quite a lot of confusion among conservative voters as to where different people are and why on each of those three issues.
Sure, Cruz responded. There is a lot of confusion and, unfortunately, a lot of misinformation you can get on the Internet that people are confused, so lets explain what each of those three are.
Cruz, by saying that, was essentially making the exact same claimblaming the Internet for what he argues is misinformationas House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)60%. Ryan made the claim on Fox News earlier on Thursday in response to Breitbart News reporting highlighted by the massively influential Drudge Report. Ryan, with whom Cruz pushed Obamatrade in a Wall Street Journal op-ed in late Aprilone thats been used by Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)40% to try to rally support for Obamatradehas been essentially discredited by various false statements hes made throughout this process.
That Cruz would use the same talking points as him is interesting and probably disappointing to many conservatives. That Boehner is using Cruz to push Obamatrade is probably even more disappointing to most conservatives... ...

You could clink on that link and hear what Cruz says about those trade bills and every other important issue.
You say Cruz reads on this forum - I doubt that because he is too busy to listen to the rants on this forum. He may have a worker read them but I doubt that, too.
He has been an honest man in Texas and won a number of court cases for Texas at the Supreme Court.
A person should have some trust in the candidate he/she votes for, and I trust Cruz to be an honest man who wants the best for this country.
They all have staff monitoring the big political sites and do name searches all the time. Thats standard practice.
I"m not in favor of ever putting another Senator in office that hasn't served at least part of a second term before running and I don't trust anyone who comes out of the Princeton/Harvard globalism machinery.
“Cruz is the one whos got it wrong.”
You haven’t had time to listen to his speech where he covers the trade agreements. You are the one who has it wrong.
Sessions likely as skin in this game too...
I trust Mark Levin who thinks this is just about the worst thing possible for this country.
If Cruz can convince Mark Levin that he is right, then I might listen to Cruz. Until he is confronted by someone who is at least as smart as him and who is not going to give him the soft glove treatment, then I frankly don't care what his excuse is for supporting this crap sandwich.
Between this and the H1B Visa position, it appears that he thinks that Free Trade means selling out American Citizens in favor of international corporations, foreign countries and foreign citizens.
Call me when he shows a little bit of interest in securing the future for American Citizens instead of big corporations and foreign govenments.
I am waiting for the debates to decide on whom I will support but I do like that Gov. Huckabee is opposed to Obamatrade.
“you dont need to post to each one of us on this thread, individually.”
Yes, I did need to post to every person because they may have left this thread and not know they could hear Cruz explain his position on issues. I think it is that important to hear him before making a judgment about his stand on these trade bills and illegal immigration and the mess in the middle east and other issues.
I’ve been around for a long time. First candidate I worked for was Eisenhower, so don’t imagine you can lecture me on anything to do with politics.
You didn’t vote for a conservative in the last election. You either voted for Romney or Obama or you threw your vote away. So don’t try to hand out garbage that you voted for a “Conservative.” I strongly suspect you didn’t vote at all, little boy.
“Thank you dear Marcella. I have posted it at least 15 times. Everyone needs to listen to it before they behead themselves.”
It’s late and I’m going to bed. I hope some on this thread will actually educate themselves and hear the truth from Cruz.
Have a good rest tonight.
I'm for Cruz because I've been watching him for quiet awhile now...long before he announced.
I stopped learning about candidates from their run...rather check them out where they stand long before they run. I believe Cruz is the real deal and he's done nor said anything that thus far has deterred me. It would take more than this tPP as I understand where his principles rest and the way he works.
Oh please. Little boy? Go make me a sammich since politics just ain’t your bag, toots.
I voted FOR a conservative. You voted to kill babies via an abortion supporter. Live with that.
Mark Levin..Hannity and all the rest aren’t running..they “SELL radio and books.
I’ve learned to wait til I know better...or do my own legwork.
Why don't YOU just tell us how giving Obama additional power to secure bad agreements is the right thing to do.
And YOU tell me why the TPP is such a good thing for the average American CITIZEN?
YOU tell us.
Frankly the only reason YOU support it is because Ted Cruz supports it. That seems to be the only reason anyone on this forum supports giving Obama more power.
Well, that ain't good enough for me. Ted Cruz is supporting giving Obama more power to undermine this country's sovereignty. You think that is good because you wouldn't critcize Ted Cruz if he laid a big wet kiss on Hillary Clinton.
Ted Cruz is not the Savior. He is a flawed human being who is perfectly capable of being stupid.
I trust Mark Levin hasn’t gotten any closer to leaving the GOp. Mush less doing it as he threatened. Twice.
The President doesn't spend his time writing legal briefs and people who like to pretend being a lawyer is still the best credentials for being President haven't been paying attention to what's been going on in this country for the past seventy years.
And? Is there a point here?
The TPP is top secret. If they pass TPA then it is a sure thing that it will sail through Congress. No fast tracked trade agreement has ever been voted down.
So unless you can tell me you have read the bill and know and understand everything that is in it, you should not be giving Obama the power to cram it through a congress filled with RINOs and Socialists.
You too. ;>)
You love that, I don't, so be happy, beat you chest, and keep pumping for the guy. Just be careful what you pray for.
