Electricians? Found a buried plastic bottle with liquid, attached to electrical wires.

Very weird. We were doing some yard work this evening and hit something, as we dug further we found an old clear plastic bottle with liquid in it. We tried to dig it out and it wouldn't budge, as we went further we realized it was attached to two electrical wires in the ground.. Any idea what this could be?

Don’t touch it, just in case there’s current running through it. It’s probably a wire connection. The bottle of liquid or whatever could be a dialectric, insulator and/or corrosion inhibitor.

I agree that it could be a connection. Someone might have used a plastic bottle to waterproof the connection underground. Albeit a lousy job.
