From the size of many of them, I think an “s” is missing.

Yup, let’s see..., let’s invest and build stores, where, the the locals riot and set fires, the Mayor tells the police to stand down..

Appears grocery stores chose to not locate in high robbery & violent areas.

Common Cense 101.

“”When we look at many of our neighborhoods, there are life-expectancy disparities as much as 20 years,” Rawlings-Blake said.”

Clearly this is due to a lack of broccoli and acai berries.

Most major grocery chains operate on very thin margins. All it takes is a few regular shoplifters to result in the store operating at a loss, which means it must close.

Do you want a local store in your neighborhood, one that will provide a variety of food on an ongoing basis?

Then don’t rip it off.

That gives them a little extra “room to destroy.”

The obvious solution is to force white owned companies to open stores in those neighborhoods, refurbish the burned out ones. /sarc

Well, I guess they could take ownership of their communities. Do things like, I dunno, form watch groups; cooperate with law enforcement and report criminal behavior; meet your neighbors, work together...

Things like that. Who knows! The supermarkets might come back! What do you say, inner black neighborhoods?

How sad. Now that the grocery stores in the ‘hood have been burned down the shoplifters cannot find food to steal.

No business is going to put their $$$$$ in a place like that. Enjoy the desert Baltimore even though a good walk would do most of the obese EBT card types a bit of good.

Screw these idiots. They destroy everything around them and then complain. Lets see how they do with the shortage of police protection they bitched about.

I live in a booze desert. The state has the liquor racket and the nearest ABC store is a good 7 miles away.

0.25 mile? A quarter mile is 1320 feet. A city block is 900 feet. So they want a grocery store on every block?

Now for the rest of the story. Building new stores was tried on the other side of town where I live. They go out of business without exception because of theft and robbery.
