The secret meeting where Ted Cruz argued that the right should unite behind him and [Truncated]

But as the forum got underway, it became apparent that most of the speakers hadn’t prepared themselves accordingly. In fact, five of the six candidates gave some version of the standard stump speech they offer the public, attendees said, ignoring what one described as “the elephant in the room, this idea that people want to coalesce behind one candidate.”

The lone exception was Cruz. “He was the only one who bought into that and tailored his entire speech to it,” says the attendee, who, despite working for a rival candidate, gushed that on a scale of 1 to 10, Cruz’s speech was a 14. “He was pitch-perfect. He got briefed well by his staff. He came in like a lawyer making his case, effectively saying, ‘I am the only one who can unite the movement.’ ”

“Cruz blew everyone else out of the water,” says a second attendee, a CNP organizer who has not signed on with any of the 2016 contenders. “He made the best case, I think, for conservative leaders and organizations to think strategically about working together to help propel a conservative candidate into contention. … He was savvy enough to understand what that room wanted to hear. Don’t just come and give us your conservative speech. Tell us: Why should we should support you? And tell us: What’s your plan to win?”

“His support for ObamaTrade has finished him.”

Someone on another thread called you a PaulBot. I think he nailed it. What do you think?

Paul Ryan is a card carrying RINO. Anything he’s pushing is bad for conservatives.

That is a cop out. You bash Cruz and then I am to assume that once you meet these people, you will decide? You already know who you support.

No, he has been the ONLY one talking about his ideas for the border. He has been steadfast one it...

What foreign involvements are you talking about?

See, this is the thing...you talk as if you have some idea of what is going on, but you don’t. What you do know is that you are a supporter of someone else...so who is it?

Yeah, I just did a little research to see what he’s hollaring about. Apparently, Cruz and Ryan did an op-ed a few months ago supporting the TPA, and now people are saying that if you support the TPA, you support some secret immigration powers hidden in the bill.

However that is completely false. The immigration clause is contained in a trade agreement, called TiSA, that is completely separate. People are just trying to conflate them by saying that the TPA might make it easier for Obama to pass TiSA. Yet, even if TPA passes, every trade agreement will need to be voted on by Congress individually. So someone is just using this story and peoples’ confusion to take cheap shots at Cruz.

Where did I bash Cruz? Right now, he's in my top 3.

And as far as already knowing who I support? I am a responsible citizen, I take my vote VERY seriously, and I understand the difference between elections and sports.

If YOU already know, I beg your pardon, but you're not doing your job,

Make sure they don’t get on the ping list when the band wagon gets going onto Ted Cruz’s nomination, and on to the presidency, God willing.

Not only that .. but I believe this gaggle of candidates is for one purpose only - to get rid of Cruz.

Fortunately, it’s not working.

Well, let me ask you a question: How about a guy who is the head lawyer of a huge law firm, who has to assign cases, keep track of all the litigation going forth for all those cases keep Cruz from being a “business leader” ..???????

I can tell you, the egos lawyers have (I worked for a law firm with 140 attorneys) .. leading them is like herding cats. In order to do that, you have to be extra smart; extra intuitive; and you have to know the law like the back of your hand.

I believe Senator Cruz is smarter than all of the Senate put together. THAT makes him the BEST candidate.

Cruz has coalesced himself right off my short list and he was at the top of it.

Cruz caved twice to McConnell/Obama on two very significant bills and did not even have the decency to say,”oops.”

His making a “good argument” is glaring evidence that his judgment is extremely poor. One vote followed by an embarrassed, “Oops,” might be forgiveable but he followed voting to make Iran a nuclear hegemon with voting to give away the rest of the power and authority of Congress to the President, including total say in immigration and a free hand to, with the other nations involved, pass LAWS of any sort he desires on AGW and many more egregious surrenders. I considered the budget deal in December to be Hussein’s Enabling Act but when this “trade” deal goes throug, it will be far more significant as a cession of power to the dictator even than the budget deal. Call Hussein “Chancellor” now as conferred on him by McConnell/Boehner with the eager help of one Ted Cruz.

I am beginning to think that more than 6 months working in DC disqualifies a man for the presidency.

I have researched all of the candidates. That is the difference...you have not. You buy into talking points while ignoring what everyone else says and does. I’d help you decide, but my thought is you already know Cruz ain’t your top pick.
