regarding the comments, there was a long line at around 4:30 on a Saturday after noon. We were from out of state. the others were Texans

We ate at several other BBQ houses two of which were listed in the top 5 in Texas. Coopers in Llano has hands down the best brisket. The best and unique sausage was at Smitties Market in Lockhart.

Although the BBQ in Llano might be reason enough for a road trip, 40 miles down the road in Fredricksburg is the Nimitz Museum of the War in the Pacific. There is a recent addition called the George HW Bush Gallery that details the American efforts from say 1939 until the end. It is too much for us in one long day so we spent two half days. This museum is a treasure

I visited the Nimitz Museum in 2008 and found a mistake in the museum material; the curator thanked me and said they would correct it. Funny thing is, I don’t remember what the mistake was, but it was about a politician.
