Hillary Rodham Clinton told the president of the National Education Association that she would listen to teachers if elected president, a simple promise Monday that impressed the president of the nations largest labor union.
She used the most important word that I was personally looking for, the word listen, said Lily Eskelsen Garcia, president of the NEA, which represents mostly K-12 teachers and paraprofessionals and has 3 million members.
Garcia met privately with Clinton, a Democrat who is running for president, at NEA headquarters as part of the unions endorsement process for the 2016 campaign. The NEA has invited both Democratic and Republican candidates to complete a 34-question survey, sit for a videotaped interview with Garcia and attend the unions annual meeting at the end of the month.
The union released excerpts from the Clinton interview but did not release the videotape. It also did not provide Clintons answers to the questionnaire, which sought her opinion on a range of topics, including whether she would curtail the use of competitive grant programs such as Race to the Top, which the Obama administration has used to push states to adopt its favored education policies.
The Clinton campaign did not immediately respond to questions about the interview and the NEA survey....
..Clinton has to negotiate a schism within the Democratic Party over education policy....
....Last week, Clinton met with AFT leadership as part of its vetting process.
Its just dead wrong to make teachers the scapegoats for all of societys problems, Clinton told the AFT, according to selected quotes released by the union. Where I come from, teachers are the solution. And I strongly believe that unions are part of the solution, too....

Commie to commie...
Goon to goon.
Wow - talk about tapping into the victim mentality...
Nobody says teachers are responsible for “all of society’s problems”. It’s political correctness and ill-conceived initiatives like ‘No Child Left Behind’, ‘Race to the ‘Top’, and the most egregious - Common Core, that are killing good education.
And incidentally, I wonder if the rank-and-file teacher is aware that they’re being sold out by those pushing Common Core, their elected officials, and their union.
Teachers have little to no discretion to teach, and they’re given less and less flexibility to adjust material/methods to accommodate the gifted student or the somewhat slower learner.
NYS teachers were up in arms about CC, but were silenced by Governor Cuomo with illegal gag orders and threats of harsh discipline or unemployment. The stranglehold on NYC teachers is even greater.
News flash for America’s school districts: Hillary AIN’T your friend.
What I mean is the NYS teacher can be fired if they criticize Common Core; even object to the testing.
she didn’t listen to Ambassador Chris Stevens when he asked for more security...these Unions ought to be careful of the hildabeast’s promises.
She may listen but will only act if the price is right.
Here she goes with the “listen” crap again being the arrogant cow she is. Oh thank you Queen Hitlery for taking the time to merely listen to us lowly serfs as if she knows more. She pulled this “listen” garbage when she was running for Senator as well and what did she do once elected? absolutely nothing but go on a book tour
That’s all this hag can do. “Listen” Head bobbing up and down eyes glazed over and a fake “I see” on her lips. She doesn’t have a platform unless it’s the results of her latest focus group output or poll, and that changes each time she changes locations.
She hates little people. She hates being asked questions. She only wants power, control and money.
Vision and Mission [excerpt]
"How has (or might) the mission, vision or constitutional purpose evolve(d) to reflect an expanded union role?
Do you have an explicit and shared understanding of a new model of unionismnew unionism, post-industrial unionism, progressive unionism, professional unionism, social justice unionism?
In what ways does the mission, vision, constitution or bylaws promote shared decision-making and a culture of inclusiveness among members and union leaders?
How does the mission and vision set the stage for the union role as co-managers (with district partners) of teacher and learning?

Member mobilization - Pushing back "A union member in this time of constant attacks on working families could understandably be excused for feeling battle weary. Every election, we are told, is the most important election, and every fight is the biggest fight against the longest odds. It is hard to cut through the hype and identify the real threats.
Its important, though, to be aware of a U.S. Supreme Court case that may present us with a national challenge and a tremendous opportunity.
In Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, a group of educators backed by a right-wing pressure group filed a lawsuit that has made its way to the highest court in America. It asks the court to decide whether public sector unions may continue to charge nonmembers a fee equal to the cost of representing them to their employer.
This fee is called agency fee or fair share. In states where there is no fair share, the union must sign up everyone as a full membernot merely a fair share payerto keep the union strong......
[SNIP]
.....Friedrichs represents a real threat to workers, so we have two choices: We can agonize or we can organize. The AFT already is rising to this challenge, operating as if the justices will issue an unfavorable decision. As you can see, many of our PSRPs are working hard to sign up and activate members, especially by bringing nonmembers and agency fee payers on board as full members.
The AFT is a union of professionals, a union of solutions and a union of action. PSRP members are talking the talk and walking the walk, championing fairness, democracy and economic opportunity for all. This is what reclaiming the promise of public education is all about. We and our community partners are all in this fight together. We can win full membership in our local unions. And when we do, well come out stronger."

The teachers’ unions are the de facto owners of the Democratic Party; there is nothing done without their approval. Many teachers feared Common Core because it would expose the years of lies, telling every parent their child is an “A” student (FWIW, teachers oppose ANY gauge of their performance, and have a list of excuses when the inflated grades are revealed).
“The Story In Your Eyes”
I’ve been thinking about our fortune
And I’ve decided that we’re really not to blame
For the love that’s deep inside us now
Is still the same
And the sounds we make together
Is the music to the story in your eyes
It’s been shining down upon me now
I realize
Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We’re part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day
But I’m frightened for your children
That the live that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we’ve been waiting for
Will turn to rain
Listen to the tide slowly turning
Wash all our heartaches away
We’re part of the fire that is burning
And from the ashes we can build another day
But I’m frightened for the children
That the live that we are living is in vain
And the sunshine we’ve been waiting for
Will turn to rain
When the final line is over
It’s certain that the curtain’s gonna fall
I can hide inside your sweet sweet love
For ever more
Public school teachers union. The vilest group in the USA>
