Well, I’ve been thinking about it and have the same dilemma. Still, the Holy Host was lying on the pavement and, intentionally or not, could be trampled in dust by someone’s boots.
You’re both quite correct. The initial gust of wind that blew the Host away didn’t commit any kind of desecration any more than if some bird had come and started eating the Host. Forces of nature can’t commit desecration. But it would have been desecration if the Host were allowed to remain on the ground, no one bothering to pick the Host up.
Kudos to this President. An anti-Obama if I ever saw one.
