Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA)is pressuring House GOP leadership, particularly Majority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy to delay plans to muscle Obamatrade through the House of Representatives quickly. In in a letter to McCarthy obtained exclusively by Breitbart News, hes asking leadership to slow down and consider the ramifications of what it is doing. I write to you today to request that you delay any vote on fast-track authority for the Executive until the President has made public all text and information pertaining to the new economic union known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership Commission, as well the Living Agreement authority, Hunter wrote to McCarthy, his fellow California Republican. My concern is that this allows the President and the members of the union to change the agreement and its membership following adoption.
Hunters concern is well founded.

That’s simple. If it’s not a done deal by a certain date, a few billion dollars that Obama and Hillary are expecting to drop into their “family foundations” doesn’t materialize.
beyond disgusted
It seems to me that the rush is to give Obama these powers while he still his time to wield then, which is inexplicable to me.
No reason to give a tyrant more powers unless you want him to use those powers.
I don’t know.
I wish I had the answer to that.
Watched “Mr Smith Goes to Washington” yesterday. Looks like most of the GOP is on the take, just like back in 1939.
Both Democrats and Republicans work for Team Satan.
Cruz is not giving any victory to Obama. The Trade Deal has been an issue in international trade for decades as previous Presidents could never back their negotiations because agreed points would always be changed or shot down by Congress. Therefore, nations would never deal with the USA because of the weakness of its trade terms.
Obama wants the Trade Deal for many reasons, one is to install Climate Change tax and regulation policies and the other is to end run-around the immigration impasse that is currently in place via a federal court injunction.
Ted Cruz has filed an amendment to stop the end run-around on immigration and he is getting with other members to shoot down any climate change insanity.
Why then does Ted Cruz want the Trade Deal? Because he says Obama has less than 18 months of effective time to do anything with the Trade Deal and Congress retains the power to make a thumbs down on any terms that Obama brings forward. They won’t be able to amend terms but they can vote it down.
So Ted has tied Obama’s hands with Climate Change and Immigration and retains influence to bury any of Obama’s proposals.
But the real reason that Ted Cruz wants the Trade Deal is because he will as President have its power for years to effect trade terms that will benefit Americans.
And democrats are in a panic to think the Ted Cruz will have such trade power. That is the real reason they are against it.
What’s wrong with a secret trade (and so much more) agreement? What’s wrong with executive fast track authority to do whatever the dictator wants?
This is much like the 1933 enabling act which gave the Fuhrer power to create laws w/o the Reichstag.
“Congress retains the power to make a thumbs down on any terms that Obama brings forward.”
How do you know, have you seen the agreement? You just can’t take someone’s word (even Cruz) for it.
Then there's the optics of Obama getting yet another victory by a slim majority. Sorry, I fear that Ted Cruz just outsmarted himself.
Cruz said it himself that a thumbs down on any trade proposals would be available to Congress.
The secrecy of certain elements of the trade deal are an issue but Cruz has the power and influence to bring such elements to daylight and then file amendments to negate any deleterious provisions.
Ted Cruz is seeing the bigger picture and the process. The Trade Deal is not written in stone yet so Ted Cruz sees the ‘process’ as editing the deal to benefit him as President and thereby benefit America and Americans; simple as that.
Here’s what Ted has to say directly about your question on this (start time 52:00):

You are wrong. See Post #12. Hear from Ted direct in the link there.
‘No reason to give a tyrant more powers unless you want him to use those powers.’
or you want to use them when you become pres.
kevin mc carthy is SCUM, DO NOT TRUST HIM, he wants to be pres and what better way than do whatever the BOSSES want.
He is a lying PILE OF GABAGE and a WORTHLESS PILE of CRAP.
Whats The Rush On Obamatrade Plans
If they don’t wield the final death blow to the American People before Obama leaves office, the wrong person might win the WEhite House and a whole bunch of the wrong people might win seats in Congress and RUIN their Utopian Marxist Wet Dream of World Dominance through World Government.
McCarthy...sigh, what a huge disappointment.
At this point I am finding extremely difficult or even impossible to trust anyone in government, and I no longer even trust in the idea of government itself.
It’s not worth the cost, and it has demonstrated itself to be an evil thing.
That was a helpful response, although just because Ted Cruz offers amendments doesn't mean they will pass and shooting down Obama's actions within the next 18 months is not aligned with the reality of 66 votes.
A YES vote seems like madness, given all the damage Obama can do until he leaves office. All, Hillary may win.
The GOP under Bonehead and McConnell run their respective houses
the same way Pelosi and Reid did.
You have to pass bills to see what is in them.
There’s a better chance of Clinton winning than Ted Cruz, if people are being honest. That’s who would then be getting this trade authority.
Cruz supports this for the same reason he backs vastly expanding H1B visas. Fill in the blanks, no politician is some sort of hero.
