The fact that he HAD to say “not that there’s anything wrong with that” every time he mentioned gay people was itself mocking them for being so thin-skinned.

Exactly. Every time they said, and they said it alot, they were poling fun at the PC stupidity of it all. That the mere statement “I’m not gay” would need a half-apology to go along with it.

Also the "ribbon bullies" who demanded that Kramer wear the AIDS ribbon if he was going to participate in the AIDS walk.
