One of the reasons that is stated for why Germany's birthrate is so low is that they lost so many men in WWI and WWII that they never made up for with any type of German Baby Boom.
If lots of Middle East Muslim men are killed in battle, and there is no subsequent baby boom, then they could be looking at low birth rates. Then they can go back to being nomads drifting from oasis to oasis.

Presumably transported thru Iraq. If they're successful against Isis, and with Russian support no reason they won't be, you'll have a permanent Iranian presence in Syria, Lebanon and likely Iraq. Not a receipe for regional stability. Perhaps this year will be the Persian spring. A presence in Syria, in Iraq, and a legal nuclear capability.
