Former Texas Governor Rick Perry will officially announce his presidential plans today from Addison, Texas flanked by an impressive group of special operations veterans. Perry is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Check out the list:
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL Paul Craig
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL JJ Jones
Taya Kyle, widow of Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. history and author of American Sniper
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, author of Lone Survivor
Navy SEAL Morgan Luttrell
Retired U.S. Marine Corps Captain Dan Moran
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL Pete Scobell
Retired U.S. Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor Recipient Mike Thornton
New York Times Bestselling author Brad Thor will also be at the announcement along with Melanie Luttrell, wife of Marcus Luttrell.
Late last week Taya Kyle, the widow of Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, sent out an email in support of Perry for RickPac detailing her personal relationship with the governor and his wife. She will also be in attendance today.
"One of the greatest things my husband, Chris Kyle, ever did was move our family to Texas. Even though he is gone, this state that shaped his patriotism, integrity and loving spirit reminds us of him at every turn. I tend to keep my political opinions to myselfthe only candidate I ever endorsed was in a race for county sheriffbut this is different. On Thursday June 4th, Ill be in Addison, Texas, where Ill proudly stand with one of the great leaders this state and country have ever produced: Rick Perry," Kyle wrote. "I got to know Rick and Anita Perry outside of the public eye, where Ive had an up-close view of their humility and commitment to doing the right thing for people regardless of who gets the credit. Believe me, they are a breath of fresh air in a political system full of people playing games and twisting the truth. My husband may have been in the military, but no one tells me which leader to follow. Instead, I look beyond the sound bites and even minor disagreements to find who has the economic TRACK RECORD and the CHARACTER it takes to make tough choices in the face of criticism. Thats why Ill be there in person as Rick and Anita Perry discuss their future and his vision for America. Please join me and patriots like Marcus & Morgan Luttrell as we stand with our friend, Gov. Rick Perry."
The Perry for President website is already live. Perry ran in the GOP primary during the 2012 race and joins a crowded field of contenders. Perry was the governor of Texas for 14 years. He will announce at 12:30 et.
My hope is that there is a coordination strategy for Perry to ultimately support Cruz.
Unfortunately Perry and Cruz often represent totally different factions of the Republican party. As I recall, Perry supported Dewhurst over Cruz for Senator.
I still remember his “Hot Gas” comment (that tickled my funny bone to no end for some reason). No thank you! I wonder if it’s not the GOPe’s way of diluting the field to get their Rino candidates into position.
Saving my vote for the only real choice for conservatives, Sen. Cruz.
And the clown car continues, meanwhile there’s only two GOP candidates, Cruz and Walker, who need our support.
More vote-spitting, because in the end, the right can be just as stupid as the RINOs.
What is this now? 30 candidates, with EVEN MORE waiting to announce?! This is just beyond retarded.
He is hoping most who watched his brain freeze in the 2012 debate will have brain freeze now about the event.
His greatest accomplishment was refilling Lake Travis with the runoff fom his 2012 campaign flop sweat.
Has there ever been an election where so many governors (or former governors) were running for POTUS?
I don’t think he can break through the crowded field..however, IMHO, Perry would be a superb Sec Homeland Security.
Y’all should remember that most of those running for 2016 president are 2016 cabinet wannabees. Just a few have a shot at the brass ring.
Fixed it! There is only one REAL CONSERVATIVE (tm) in this race, and that's Cruz. The rest will only push the GOP further left, and I won't be a party to that any more.
Bingo! 20 candidates, everybody gets 2-10%...then the big GOPe money takes over...for the Jebster! Also, the Texas primary is scheduled on Super Tuesday, March 1st 2015, when the delegate distribution will still be proportional. Perry running will likely take delegates away from Cruz. Linda Graham running will also siphon some votes early in South Carolina. The Huckster running will divert some Evangelicals in Iowa...on and on. It is also clear that Fox is submarining Cruz in their coverage of candidates. Cruz will only have a chance through the grassroots.
Perry going for head of INS?
It is part of the plan....How else is Hillary going to win??? How did her husband win two times?.. uh, split the vote?
Blaaah!
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiick Perry!
(The ultimate psyche out.)

I love Cruz, much more so than Walker, but I could get behind a Walker nomination.
Will he be able to express a coherent thought in the debates?
I can get behind Walker for Veep, but that’s about it at this point. He’s not horrible, but he’s a lot more establishment than Cruz and, quite frankly, I’ve lost any love I once had for the establishment. Cruz is the only one I’ll vote for. He has my primary vote, and hopefully I’ll be able to vote for him in the generals as well. If not, it’ll be a straight 3rd party ticket.
