Actually, I had this same idea myself a few years ago. Back when American presidents had American cojones and weren't shameful girly-men, an American President would have beaten me to it, and China would now be supplicating us for a deal on turning over our island in return for their repudiating the "Nine-Dash Line" bullswoggle about owning the world's seas and oceans.
