WASHINGTON - The White House is confident it can still pursue Iran nuclear talks despite US Secretary of State John Kerry's injury over the weekend, a spokesman said on Monday.
Kerry left Europe for the United States earlier on Monday after breaking his leg in a cycling accident on Sunday.
"We do continue to believe that we have the time and resources necessary to pursue, and hopefully complete, the Iran negotiations," White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters in a briefing. He added that Kerry would continue to play a critical role in the talks, although it was unclear exactly what his capacity to participate would be in the coming weeks.
They are using this to replace Kerry with the sorority girl Marie Harf.
I bet he cried like a little girl.
Hopefully not his hair...
It was unclear what his capacity was even when he was there "negotiating". Bottom line, it's juvenile that he was even on a bike during these important WORK meetings, it's not a big vacation - except for these limo libs.
I'm told Harf will step in, however she will require that her days be only 10-noon, with the remaining hours spent rollerblading and skateboarding. Obama, when contacted on the golf course, said he could live with that.
If we can get him to participate in the talks while doped up on painkillers, it might be an improvement.
Be careful not to stand behind him. He may kick.
The negotiations can go as scheduled. John can flip the coin from his hospital bed OK.
Marie Harf aka Marie Barf
