Waco Judge Agrees to Let Most Bikers Go If They Sign Contract Not to Sue for Wrongful Arrest
Washington Weekly News ^ | May 31, 2015 | Looney and Conrad Law Firm

Posted on 06/01/2015 5:57:56 AM PDT by bgill

“It appears the public defenders office in McLennan County is involved in this scurrilous activity,” said Paul Looney, a Houston attorney with Looney & Conrad, P.C. “I’ve never seen anything like the lawlessness that the authorities have perpetrated on these people and now to add insult to injury they are trying to cover their own tracks in exchange for bond.”

Not sure if this was posted

Not much on all this to be honest

Apparently only news I can find is a few got out on bond reduced to 25,000 from 1,000,000

Which is kinda odd if they are not a cooperative witness

And that civil suits are starting

Which is where I always figured light one shine on this massive overcharging obscurity of whatever happened 3 weeks ago

The Vise Grips ... are an outlaw gang support club. They obey the orders of their parent club.

Where's your source for this info?

Yeah -- boy, these guys are definitely a bunch of thugs supporting meth labs and robbery and prostitution. All this crap about loving to work on Harleys, why, that's just pretend. A cover, for sure! These guys just know how to look and act like about 90 percent of the lifelong Harley guys (including many blood relatives and close friends) I know personally as honorable, good, hardworking, regular joes.

But YOU are too smart to be fooled by them, aren't ya, Gator? I guess I'm just a rube to fall for believing that these guys are exactly what they look like to me because they look, sound, and behave exactly like all the other die-hard bikers I know -- gosh, who knew that all these folks I've loved and known and even ridden with a time or two, were secretly in cahoots with drug dealers, meth cookers, pimps, and armed robbers!

Why, just like every blue-haired old lady and 9-year-old boy who watches TV, you, Texas Gator, know real vicious criminal bikers when you see them!

One thing I learned living in Florida. A doorknob has more brainpower an alligator. TG is sure living up to his screen name.

It has always been held that contracts or agreements signed under duress/coercion/extortion are invalid.

That was the formula that freed the crew of the USS Pueblo. The US gave NK it's demanded apology but the written apology was preceded by an oral statement that it was done only to secure the release.

Apparently you have no idea what the diamond 13 patch means when you wear it with three piece colors.

I’m wondering how such agreements can be considered valid - there is clearly a ship load of duress being applied by the government.

“The “Waco Stench” continues to grow. I’ll wager that this lawyer will not be silent about his trying to meet with the D.A. this morning.”

The lawyers certainly aren’t silent! Each is blaming the other!

The biker’s in jail are probably thinking ‘what dumb jerks we hired’.

I'm with you. I think any reasonably competent attorney could show that duress. I'd bet they could turn it around and use the fact that the offer was even put on the table as evidence of the wrongfulness of the arrest. After all, if the arrest was "above board" and legal in the first place, why would the government/law enforcement agencies seek the (dubious) protection of the agreement? They must believe there is a case-for or evidence-of wrongful arrest if they are trying to preempt lawsuits with this BS agreement. If they thought the arrests were valid, they wouldn't make the offer, they'd say "go ahead, sue, you'll lose." Methinks there is a case to be made and the budget/insurers of those involved are going to take a *big* hit in the coming months.

“I’m with you. I think any reasonably competent attorney could show that duress.”

You are a day late and a dollar short. It is so amazing how one lawyer can say “may” and “if this is true” and another lawyer and lots of FR pass it on as fact.

‘Agreement’ made up by an incompetent attorney and passed on by another incompetent lawyer.
