Anyone expressing national pride in school is likely to be sent to the office and probably expelled. The schools started doing away with national pride when the newer generation of anti-war hippies entered the system around 1969. Anyone not expressing the liberal orthodoxy will face tremendous pressure to conform.
I’m pretty sure if you burn a flag anywhere along the south shore of Staten Island, the only thing that will beat you to the emergency room will be the lights on the ambulance. Manhattan, however, is another story.
