She died after 25 days on the pill. She was only 21. As in so many blood clot cases caused by birth control, she was misdiagnosed when she went to the hospital struggling to breathe and experiencing pain in her legs and ribs. She was sent home diagnosed with a bruised sternum. Four days later, she collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. On May 14, three days after arriving at the hospital, she was pronounced dead. According to an article in Cosmopolitan, tests revealed a large blood clot on her lung.
Her name was Fallan Kurek, and she worked with disabled children in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia. She had started taking the pilla combination oral contraceptiveto regulate her menstrual cycle. Why wasnt Fallan warned about the possibility of blood clots that accompany pill use? Why did the hospital not immediately connect her symptoms to the contraceptive she had just started taking?
Fallans devastated mother was quoted in the Birmingham Mail, She was only on it to regulate her periods. I couldnt believe nobody had said the pill could do this. It should say it on the pack that they can kill and the label.
Annually, one in every 3000 women taking birth control pills will develop blood clots. It is well known all across the medical community that the pill increases the risk for deadly blood clots. And that information is indeed printed on the very lengthy packet insert, which most women never read. But it is not displayed on the packet, the label, or any other prominent place. And even knowing of the possibility of blood clots, medical personnel didnt connect the dots for Fallan Kurek.
Fallans mother, Julia, wants to let the world know about the dangers of taking the pill. This is all because of 25 days, she said. Twenty-five days on the pill and another precious life was lost.
American Life Leagues The Pill Kills project has been working for almost a decade to expose the dangers of the pill. Yet tragedies continue to amass as one woman after another dies or suffers profound health consequences because of the pill.
Over the past two weeks, American Life League has received multiple heartrending e-mails from those who have seen our reports on the dangers of the pill. Here is a sample:
I have a DVT [deep vein thrombosis] in my right leg from 20 years ago. It broke and went to my lungs. My leg is now hard as a rock and I live in pain every time I walk. I have COPD [because of] the clot in my lungs. All this caused by the birth control pill. It kills. Thanks, Donna.
Colleen writes that her 29-year-old daughter went blind after four to five years on massive doses of Provera and the insertion of a Mirena IUD, all given to her for the purpose of stopping bleeding. She now has approximately 10 percent tunnel vision in her left eye, and has five stents inserted in her brain, Colleen says. I have no doubt whatsoever that Provera caused her blindness, she goes on to say. Women should not only be warned about death from clots, etc., but also that they can and do lose their eyesight.
Joanie writes: My 18-year-old daughter had a stroke six years ago and has aphasia. Aphasia is a communication disorder that results from damage or injury to language parts of the brain. Joanies daughter had been on Yasmin for three months when she suffered the stroke and her nightmare began. She was only 12 years old.
News reports are continually popping up about young women killed or injured by the pill. You can read some of the most recent reports on The Pill Kills Facebook page. Yet we are told over and over that this is extremely rare.
Women need to know the truth about the pill and other contraceptives. Young girls must be protected from contraceptive pushers. Join American Life League on June 6 for our to expose the perils of the pill. People from all walks of life and more than 40 sponsoring groups will hit the streets and the Internet to educate about how the pill kills and injures women.
For more information and to get involved, visit our website, . And be sure to help us take over Twitter with the message that the pill kills on June 6. By using the hashtag #ThePillKills, we can raise global awareness about the dangers of the pill and other contraceptives.
RIP
The common thread in the anecdotes seems to be lack of education or awareness. Read the insert — it spells out all the conceivable (pardon) complications and side effects. All the required warnings won’t fit on the packaging in large bold print.
Pulmonary embolism is pretty challenging to diagnose and is frequently missed. The use of birth control pills and sudden dyspnea were good clues for something as risky as PE.
Who hasn’t seen a TV commercial about a new miracle drug that either cures or relieves some painful condition? And how about the 30 second listing of side effects associated with the new miracle drug that transfers the responsibility for the adverse reactions to the user or his/her physician? And how many other drugs would be prescribed to alleviate the side effects? And how many other side effects result from the additional medications? And..........
She had a future that will never be, because nothing is more important than consequence-free sex.
Ya think they are gonna stop all birth control pills?
I am a male in my mid 80’s who rcently had a clot in my leg and lungs.
My doctor sent me to a vascular specialist who found thaat I have Factor V Leiden mutation.
Look it up. Too long to explain here.
I suspect that many of the cases discussed in this article have the mutation.
Certainly any woman who is going on the pill should be tested for it.
Three doctors missed the fact that I have it, possibly because I am far beyond the age where the problem usually shows up.
All the more reason that young people should have the test before using any drug that might cause clotting and also before any major operation that might cause clotting.
“Fallans devastated mother was quoted in the Birmingham Mail, She was only on it to regulate her periods.”
Absolutely tragic. The poor woman was on on birth control to regulate her periods and she ends up dead.
THERE IS A SAFE ALTERNATIVE:
“NFP It Aint Your Mommas Rhythm”

I highly recommend the following website:
When you read the comments from patients about the side effects they are or were experiencing, the majority of patients state that they were told by their doctors that their side effects were all in their head or due to their age. LOL
NFP will not address menstrual irregularities. Neither will hormonal bcp. Only a real endocrine workup can even give a hint of a real diagnosis. Everything else is just, “See symptom X, apply prescription Y.”
Sounds to me like she was killed by the one who misdiagnosed.
umm... without going into the grisly details, when Mrs. BigDaddy and I were married, we didn’t want children quite yet. So we had “consequence-free” sex for several years. I assume you have a problem with that?
She took a drug. All drugs have risks. As do walking down the street, driving a car, and laying in bed sleeping (i know a guy who was killed when a limb crashed through is house and killed him in bed).
Mostmof the time of a new drug ad talks about its dangers and side effects.
When is the last time a damn vitamin had to spend mot of its time about its dangers and side effdcfs?
Hell they send people home that have all, sorts of serious medical issues and they just tell them rest and tylenol.
IIRC, Obama gave that advice at one point.
Thanks for oversimplifying it.
Low dose contraceptives do help regulate periods for some women who can have pretty unpleasant ones otherwise. I am a guy and even I know this.
And while some people use it for preventing pregnancy from sex, they can still face disease, or pregnancy if they dont take it correctly. I’d rather have people who know they dont want kids and would half ass parent and give the world more Trayvons and Mike Browns as a result, to take steps to prevent it from happening.
Knock, knock.
Who’s there?
The 21st Century.
Advice, directive, potato, potata. :)
I’m not against an “endocrine workup” but the fact remains THE PILL CAUSES BLOOD CLOTS and NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING DOES NOT, and it is effective!
“Natural Family Planning (NFP) is a safe, natural and effective way to postpone, avoid or achieve pregnancy.

Plus, as excerpt states, woman can use the same knowledge, if they want to get pregnant.
