“she gets more ‘confused’ and is really looking like the ‘30 miles of rough road’ she really is - potholes and all”

LOL, I like that description. So apt.

Not bad for someone starting out as a high school teacher. I do not begrudge anyone good fortune—as long as it is legal.

Remember when pay raises for Reps were up for consideration?
Things were so bad they slept in their offices or roomed with others. No one could afford housing in the DC area. So they said.

Yes to Newt question
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
I know I asked etc BUT he was actually replacement for Bob Livingston (R LA) who quit before accepting. (Sorry, I also hate it when someone asks a question then answers it)

Livingston had been in the middle of the Clinton ‘investigation’ when Penthouse ‘outed’ him for ‘youthful indiscretions’.

Believe at the time Penthouse was offering a Million bucks for rumors about R’s.....ALL PAYBACK FOR WJC IMPEACHMENT.

Also discovered that Hastert was the longest running R Speaker and John Boehner was a leading force in ousting Newt as Speaker.....

A pox on all their Houses and Senate and D’s in general and the pResident and his Smores attacking fattish wife in particular-—she thinks she knows better how to feed us or control our diet.

Yeah, I remember that. I also remember my congressman back in the 70s complaining because he couldn’t afford a house in DC and a house at home.

I don’t begrudge people making money either. But it seems way too many make a career out of serving in congress and retire millionaires. I’ve never known one who retired in the same financial shape as when they were first elected. There’s something about that place that corrupts good people.

Hastert, in the article, was an unknown congressman from Illinois. He gets elected speaker, retires after a few years and now he’s throwing millions of dollars around.

One, I want to know where he got that kind of the money. And I want to know who he gave it to and why. A person can spend his own money on anything he wants. But when a former congressman does it the way he’s accused of doing it and wants to keep it a secret, it raises a read flag. An indictment doesn’t mean guilt. But if he lied about it to the FBI, it doesn’t smell right. Plus, why were they asking him about it?
