Washington (CNN)The heavy flooding that's overwhelmed Texas and killed more than 30 people has put Sen. Ted Cruz in a bind on climate change.
The Republican presidential contender has held two press conferences over the past two days to address the flooding and the government's response. At each one, he was asked about the impact of climate change on natural disasters like the Texas flooding, and at each one, he dodged the question.
"In a time of tragedy, I think it's wrong to try to politicize a natural disaster -- and so there's plenty of time to talk about other issues," he said in response to a question on his views on climate change during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

"I think the focus now is on caring for those who have lost their lives and lost their homes," he said.
At least 31 people have died in Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma from the storm since this weekend, while another 11 remain missing in Texas. Cruz promised to do all he could to ensure that Texans get access to the resources they need during the recovery.
But his reluctance to answer questions on climate change mark a much more cautious approach to the question than his comparison in March of "global warming alarmists" to "flat-Earthers."
"It used to be [that] it is accepted scientific wisdom the Earth is flat, and this heretic named Galileo was branded a denier," he said in an interview with the Texas Tribune.
Cruz also argued that "global warming alarmists" aren't basing their arguments on facts, because "the satellite data demonstrate that there

LOL!
He is only in a “bind” with the weak minded, who probably won’t vote for him anyway.
Why?
Because “All Bush’s Fault” excuse expired? Or something.
It HAPPENS here in Central Texas periodically - jeez, these people are desperate for something to hang on Ted Cruz. So far he’s channeling Muhammed Ali, “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee”. Beautiful thing to watch, really...
Sheila Jackass Lee says it floods because we don’t spend enough on inferstructure.
It's funny how weather events that don't match the AGW model are chocked up to just weather and those that do are highlighted.
Governments around the world are in over their heads in debt and are going to use Climate Change to fleece their citizens. They are indoctrinated us in the common enemy syndrome. It is Climate Blame.
Oh man! Next up is the climate will change from rainy to 100+ temperatures. I guess my minivan and home AC is causing changes in solar declination.
Apparently, Texas has never had flooding before.
Of course, because it never rained before conservatives drove SUV's. Guess this genius has never seen the Grand Canyon.
The flooding in TX is a weather event (short term), NOT a long term trend (Climate). The Houston area has had floods for centuries. The idiots in the media know that, the goal of the question (and all their actions) is to further their agenda and damage Republicans.
Its put CNN in a bind. Are they insinuating that melting glaciers are causing this flooding? These nuts also said we were going to have massively powerful hurricanes after Katrina, in fact not one has hit the gulf coast since. This climate change is nothing but political science, that is, science guided by politics.
Extreme leftist “journalists” are such heartless ghouls to bring up their anti-capitalist fantasy cult in a time when real people are dealing with deaths and destruction of property. Shame on them all.
When I was growing up, I lived three years in Houston. In two of those years it flooded. Probably not this bad but still. My great grandparents left north Texas in the end of the 19th century and migrated to Purcell OK because of the extreme drought. I lived through a similar drought in N. Texas in the 50s which was “broken” the famous Dallas tornado so “climate change” happens in Texas. It’s been happening forever.
Texas never had devastating floods before?
Quick, somebody inform SRV!
Its the cause of everything
havent you heard?!
Floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, twisters, wild fires and sharknados have been happening since the beginning of time. I hate that they are using this tragedy as a means to spread a political agenda. I hate even more all of the republican candidates that are agreeing with the climate change fear mongers just to further their own political agendas.
CNN is a donor to the Clinton slush fund..........
Because Texas has never, ever had a flood before in all of recorded history. /s
Flash, there is flooding in Texas! Never before seen!
um... yeah
because there has never been floods before, ever, and so this MUST BE global warming
That sounds logical
