In a lengthy May 26 article, Jodi Rudoren, the New York Times Jerusalem bureau chief, goes apoplectic over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus selection of Dore Gold to run Israels foreign ministry.
The headline and the lead paragraph immediately signal to readers that Gold, a former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, is disastrous for Israels diplomacy Netanyahu Appoints Hawkish Ally to Run foreign policy buttressed by Rudorens own depiction of Gold as a Bibi confidant who is hawkish on Iran and the Palestinian issue.

Netanyahu Appoints Hawkish Ally to Run foreign policy
I’m guessing it’s someone who believes in Israels right to exist, which offends liberals no end.

Hi Jodi. With all due respect, the day Bibi cares about what you or your pathetic newspaper thinks of how he runs his country is the day hell freezes over. Any questions?

If the New York Times has a tantrum, and nobody hears it, did the tantrum really happen?

This looks like a move to the left. The outgoing functional head of the Foreign Ministry, Nissim Ben Shitrit, is more ‘hawkish’ than Gold, although Ben Shitrit was not expected to hold the job permanently anyway.
