All I know is what I saw on the BBC...a documentary called "Britain's Worst Teeth." It followed several people in their twenties whose teeth were so rotten they couldn't eat without pain.
One of the girls had a habit of eating sugar right out of the bag. She told the dentist she had no idea she was supposed to brush the inside of her teeth.
