NEWARK Mayor Ras Baraka has penned a letter to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and other Cabinet members, asking them to immediately stop the expansion of Middle East-based airlines into domestic markets which he says could threaten the city's airport and economy.
The missive, also addressed to Transportation Secretary Anthony R. Foxx and Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker, said carriers are subsidized by their governments and could cut into markets carved out by domestic outfits such as United Airlines, which provides thousands of jobs to Newark-area residents.

Translation:
Those Middle-eastern Airlines are eating United Airlines for lunch, on some of the most profitable routes in the world. United First is cattle class compared to the Big International Airlines services.
Having Middle Eastern airlines serving Newark Liberty makes complete sense, as much of the area within 25 miles of this airport resembles a Middle Eastern country.
Give all of Terminal B to El Al, including the TSA security contract.
It’s now a 40+ mile radius and metastasizing rapidly. That’s why I fot the guck out of there!
Newark airport workers (can guess ethnic makeup) are the laziest stupidest on the planet
Last trip coming back to Newark pilot was riffing on them
while waiting for gate agent to park plane and extend jetway
Newark Airport. A turd, in a portable toilet, on a gutwagon, floating on a tunaboat, in a cesspool. Smells just as nice as well. I have the unfortunate curse of sitting in that dump a couple hours every moth or two.
About 40 years ago, there was an episode of “The Rockford Files” where Jim Rockford had to fly into Newark airport. The caption said “Newark Airport, and in a scene with no dialog, Rockford got mugged in the airport men’s room. That was it. On to the next scene.
“and could cut into markets carved out by domestic outfits such as United Airlines, which provides thousands of jobs to Newark-area residents.”
So what? The “Middle East-based” airlines (Emirates, way better than United, BTW) aren’t bringing in their own foreign airport labor to displace what’s already there. Although there’s enough of that from what I’ve observed.
