PacSun’s upside down American Flag T-shirt considered offensive (POLL TO FREEP)

DENVER — A t-shirt for sale online from the popular store PacSun, was making the rounds on social media but not for a good reason.

It is a black t-shirt with the American Flag printed on it, but what’s causing uproar is that the flag is upside down.

Some say it is offensive for portraying the flag like this, others disagree.

The shirt was on sale on Monday at Denver’s Park Meadows mall location. Employees there told FOX31 Denver that they had not received any word from corporate to pull it off the selves as of Monday afternoon. That changed by Monday evening.

PacSun has lots of American flag apparel for sale that they are promoting on this Memorial Day, but only this T-shirt was getting backlash.

“We’re going to disgrace the American flag by flying it upside down? I codemn them,” said Ron Davies, a Vietnam War veteran. “I don’t see anyone in distress with that shirt. As far as I’m concerned, anybody that disgraces the American flag is an enemy of mine.”

The T-shirt is part of the store’s A$AP Worldwide collection, according to their website.

Promoting this shirt on Memorial Day was in very poor taste. And the edgy shirt sparked attention for the company. I wonder how many would have objected to it being worn by students at school on Cinco de Mayo?

As others have noted, I more object to the marketing of the anarchy symbol as being some kind of hip thing for children to wear.

I felt the same way abt the flag raising image. It speaks of soldiers back in civilian life still being team players, getting things done and being competitive.

I find the shirt less distressing than I do the realization that the democrats have engineered this to a point where anything they deem “offensive” is immediately destroyed without question or debate. Therein lies the rub, and it must change or they will control all debate—by their intent and design.

I thought the Iwo Jima shirt was harmless and clever. This shirt expresses my sentiments about the state of the nation precisely.

Why all the handwringing on the right. P.C.?

Plus the shirt is produced by a rap artist who clearly has anti-American sentiment in their visuals.

how can a rap artist ever be anti-American? They make all their money in America. And the white kids are the dumbest of all - if they were to only listen to the lyrics of these so called songs.

It should have 1/20/2009-1/20/2016 under flag.

I’m offended by the Obama administration and the citizen voters that made such a treasonous blight on our country possible. Might just be time for a little anarchy, watering the tree of liberty and all. I haven’t flown a flag since this administration was emplaced, and my patriotism for this country has waned. I’m sorrowful for all those that sacrificed their lives to protect and defend this once great nation for the many that are now defiling their legacy.

Maybe I’m missing something. I consider the country to be in distress. I consider the country to be in decline. I welcome anyone who wants to help reverse that — and the first step in reversing it would be to simply acknowledge that there is a problem that needs reversing.
The shirt does not bother me. I am not offended.

This.

I dont like seeing the flag upside-down.

But I hate the fact more that the shirt tells the truth.

Flying the flag upside down is a recognized distress signal. Fully appropriate for the damage the regime has done and is doing.

I don’t have a problem with either shirt. People put too much effort into being offended.

I won't say "offended" but the use of an upside-down flag as a form of political protest is a little alarming to anyone who is trained to regard that as a request for immediate aid due to physical peril. And no, "the country is in peril" doesn't fit that model.

I could be offended, though, if there's money in it.

I personally am offended by the flag being flown upside-down for any reason other than to ask for aid due to immediate physical peril.

So why, then, do I not raise the flag upside-down to signify my offense? The reason is that being offended is not the same as actual injury.

The notion that offense or unhappiness is somehow just as serious as physical injury seems to me to be more appropriate to liberals than to conservatives.
