I am one of those Freepers that doesn’t want the federal government to subsidize American workers by blocking cheap labor or discouraging outsourcing. In the long run, our country is as strong as its economy. I want America to stay strong.

I, too want a strong economy. I don’t think that controlling immigration is subsidizing American workers...As a country, we have always controlled immigration to suit our country’s needs—and I am not sure cheap coders for Zuckerberg’s Facebook or Disney is serving the national interest when our U-6 unemployment is so high.

The tech companies are clamoring for foreign workers because of a supposed shortage, yet there are more and more examples of US works training their foreign replacements...who then become unemployed. I don’t think this is strengthening the US economy....

IMHO, one of the great strengths of our country and economy has been the strength of our middle class—which is being squeezed by government regulation, foreign worker competition, A/I and robotics.

Look at what all that cheap foreign labor did for Microsoft.

They were the biggest tech giant on the planet; controlled practically 95% of the operating systems in home and office, - then missed out on all of the major tech developments of the 21st century ( revamped search engines, digital music, smartphones, tablets, social media ).
