Carl’s Jr. was founded by Carl Karcher and his wife, starting with a push cart. He built the business up into a major burger fast food chain in California in competition with McDonald’s, Jack-in-the Box, Wendy’s etc.
Carl and his wife were ardent Catholics who lived in Orange County where Carl’s Jr. had its corporate headquarters. They attended Mass every day, and one of their sons, Fr. Jerome Karcher is pastor of a church in Huntington Beach, CA.
My wife worked on a temporary basis at the corporate headquarters when Carl was CEO. Carl had a life-sized statue of St. Francis of Assisi in the lobby.
I suspect that the late Mr. and Mrs. Karcher are rolling over in their graves when they see the TV commercials which Andrew Puzder has been running on TV.
Who knows, maybe they both liked ads of women licking and eating meat.
