This just in:
CA CD-46: Irvine Councilwoman Lynn Schott (R) has quit open seat race; telling local blog she filed FEC papers but decided it was mistake.
With Schott out, there are currently NO GOP candidates in this race, including speculative, for Loretta Sanchez’s seat.
I’m certain we will have a candidate, but the question is, will they have a chance?
It’s like trying to teach a dog algebra.
The district is more ‘Rat voting than the adjacent state Senate and County Supervisor districts, including all of Santa Ana and western Anaheim. I can think of a few Pubbies who can run, but they’ll be running in a district that voted 60% for Obama.
For what it’s worth, ‘Rat frontrunner Lou Correa clashed with his party’s leadership in the Senate sometimes. When he tried to form a Blue Dog-type caucus, the Senate President moved him into an office the size of a broom closet. He’d be less repulsive than Loretta Sanchez. As far as I can tall, Janet Nguyen would be the best GOP candidate, but she just succeeded Correa in the state Senate a few months ago and doesn’t seem interested.
