Is desegregation dead? Apparently, we are supposed to pray, "Lord, in Thy mercy forbid that our obsession with race, vengeance, and playing God with other people's children should slack for a moment, even in the face of failure and disaster."
The aura of complete fantasy, which has largely governed educational policy debates with respect to race & ethnicity, since the middle of the last century, continues. The real losers are not affluent whites & far east Asians, as many of the more naive imagine, but those whom “desegregation”—basically a made up word to describe a largely under-analyzed goal—was intended to help.
I am not suggesting that all education has not suffered; to be sure it has. But consider the terrible effect on certain families. (Keeping Minorities Dependent.)
