The case of a Florida woman who fled to avoid her son's circumcision is entering a federal courtroom for the first time.
Thirty-one-year-old Heather Hironimus was arrested Thursday in the long-running dispute over the removal of her 4-year-old child's foreskin. She went missing with the boy nearly three months ago and ignored a judge's warnings that if she didn't appear in court and give consent for the circumcision to proceed, she faced jail.
The case originated in state courts but will be heard in a federal courtroom Monday in West Palm Beach. An attorney for Hironimus filed a federal civil rights complaint as legal options faded.
A judge is due to hear a motion asking for a restraining order against the boy's father to keep the surgery from happening.
Finally something useful for the clown courts to do. Fight over foreskins. I love this country!!! From the Redskins to foreskins!
What if it was a nose job instead of circumcision?
Change the team name to the Washington Foreskins? No, woundn’t work, would get them confused with congress critters.
(((ROTFLMAO)))
He’ll be in his 20s before it’s settled.....
Great name for a punk band: Johnny Smegma and the Four Skins.
No mention of who is trying to require the circumcision. Never heard of a law in the US that required it. Critical information missing from the story.
Not smart to file a suit in federal court and then figuratively flip off the judge.
This may provide a clue:
"against the boy's father"
Or maybe I'm just making rash assumptions.
Yeah, missed that in the final sentence of the article. I say leave the boy alone until he’s eighteen and let him decide.
Should have been done as an infant. 4 is getting a bit old. Presuming the father is Jewish. And looking at the mother, the father may have an alcohol problem as well.
No mention of any spouses or ex-spouses in the story.
By the way - you deal well with semi-snark.
This article is sloppy writing. The father should have been mentioned in the first or second sentence. There are more and more articles around where one must read and read to find key information that should be provided in the first paragraph. I kept rereading the top of the article looking for the other side of the dispute and it isn’t mentioned until the final sentence.
I read a link to find more details.
Hironimus and the boy's father, Dennis Nebus, have been warring since her pregnancy. They were never married but share custody of their child, and in a parenting agreement filed in court, the two agreed to the boy's circumcision. The mother later changed her mind, giving way to a long court battle. Circuit and appellate judges have sided with the father, but potential surgeons have backed out after failing to get the mother's consent and becoming the target of anti-circumcision protesters.
The circumcision debate is a dead end. No one wants to think the wrong decision was made for him, or that he made the wrong decision for a son. - But I do think it will soon be reversible with all the coming techniques for growing new body parts, for any adults who might want it reversed.
It’s unbelievable that a judge could force a child to have his dick mutilated. Would this even be considered at all for a case of female genital mutilation?
Ever seen one that wasn’t? ...no face, no personality. It was like a martian. But hey, you know that’s me.
