Two women shot during a chaotic exchange of gunfire happened upon by a police supervisor were among 16 people wounded by gunfire since late Saturday morning, according to police.
The most recent shooting happened about 2:50 a.m. in the 900 block of West 52nd Street in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
A supervisor patrolling the area barely south of the shooting heard the gunfire and saw a car fleeing the scene, police said.
As the supervisor approached 52nd Street, the shooting continued and the supervisor called out for help from more police and ambulances.
“They’re still shooting over there,” the dispatcher said after the supervisor repeated a call for help. “Get some cars over there with him, (he’s) on scene.”
I haven’t read the COMMIE APPEAL which is Memphis’s fish wrapper, but I suspect it says about the same. The first 15 mins of the nightly news is noting but crime and shootings.
