A US appeals court has ruled that the NSA's dragnet of millions of Americans' phone calls is illegal, and Edward Snowden served as the catalyst for the decision.

"Americans first learned about the telephone metadata program that appellants now challenge on June 5, 2013, when the British newspaper The Guardian published a FISC order leaked by former government contractor Edward Snowden," the court noted.

I agree. And I’ll be honest here. This was the situation under Reno too.

When Bush came in I was hoping to see some serious after action mop-up. NOTHING!

I hope the next President an Congress will be willing to clean house as a clear message to future presidents and crime figures, that this will not be tolerated.

There will come a time when they will pay dearly.

Tens of people should have gone to prison from the Clinton years. Perhaps hundreds now.

NAILED it. This alone told me what Bush was.

You know, that stunt in the White House would have caused me the resolve to address the Clintons for who they and their miscreant team were.

The computers in the White House are the property of the Citizens of the United States. This wasn’t a frat-house where sophomoric activity is expected and goes with the territory. When they took the “W” keys, it was an act against the nation, not Bush. And that summed up their eight years, screwing the nation over and over again.

It as more of the same from the guy who thought nothing of going running and sweating afterwards in the oval office. Reagan felt funny about taking off his suit jacket there.

Clinton and company had the class of a barn animal. No, on second thought they never quite achieved that level.

Sorry barn animals everywhere...

Bill&Hill also stole furniture and fixtures out of the White House. The destruction of the computers were probably an afterthought.....on the way out the door.

Bush said nothing. Bush did nothing.

He DID keep many Marxist employees Hillary put into cabinet jobs.

I had forgotten about all of it if I ever realized how much they did.

Your Marxist comment is probably a lot more true than most of us would like to think.

Good with that because I have friends who still work for NSA ... and they would vehemently deny that they are “spying” on you, else so is the phone company, and all others whom you do business with daily. You are paranoid about nothing.

And once again your hero Eddy Snowden took everything NSA had; leaving you worried that there is a record of your phone calls somewhere, but totally unfazed that the US no longer has secure Intel collection capability. ISIS loves Eddy. Putin loves Eddy. Hu Jintao loves Eddy. You love Eddy - so you are in good company ...

Likely the Russians and the Chinese have more personal info on you than does any gov org outside of the IRS who does take as much personal info as it can swallow.

NSA has only a few phone numbers, the IRS has everything else, but that’s OK because they’d never use it against you, unless you were a member of a conservative org.

How did your friends ever manage to do intel work before being allowed to inhale the whole of our communications? I have to doubt they would suddenly be blind in the world without 1984 as their instruction manual. Either that or they should resign and let in people willing to do the job. You know. like they did for over 200 years.

It’s funny to sit here and listen to people rail on about paranoia while admitting the reason for said paranoia is actually happening. You might want to look op a quote by the founders containing the words “deserves neither”.

My old friends, like myself once upon a time, work at NSA ... you simply have no idea what Intel (ELINT or HUMINT) collection is about or how it works. NSA has been inhaling, as you put it, all communications worldwide for more than 50 years.

1984 by Orwell has more to do with your ruling political class than NSA or the people who dedicate their lives to keeping you safe to believe the inane things you believe.

It’s not an issue of what I ‘believe’.

To be clear, I’m not concerned in the slightest about some guy at the NSA checking up on anyones porn collection. I’m worried about what your bosses, AKA politicians, are doing with the info you and your buds are gathering.

84 was a clear fictional warning about the dangers and direction of 24/7 surveillance that has in many respects become reality. That’s not even arguable.

I would like to know what you feel the point of all the internal spying is. Do you think it’s to keep America safe from internal threats from Jihadis? How exactly does that happen when none of you are allowed to say a bad word against the blessed Muslim, much less do anything? You don’t honestly expect anyone to believe Barry is going to let you stop them do you? Because we out here in civvyland don’t. And we have several jihadi attacks that y’all knew about in advance to back that up.

So either you have an incompetent moron calling your shots or we’re justified in our beliefs. Because obviously the program isn’t getting the results it was intended to.

And please, spare us the “you don’t know the half of what goes on” routine. Thats right. We don’t. That’s the problem.
