Jeb Bush stumbled over questions about the Iraq War this week, unnerving some congressional Republicans who wonder if he has what it takes to win the White House.
Steadfast allies to the former Florida governor say Bush is just a bit rusty and insist the gaffes wont be debilitating ahead of his expected campaign for the 2016 GOP nomination.
But others on Capitol Hill were scratching their heads as Bush struggled during four consecutive news cycles to articulate his position on the unpopular war that defined the presidency of his older brother, George W. Bush.
[Im] flabbergasted at the degree of back and forth thats ensued this week on the Middle East answer, correction, non-answer, correction, etc., said one GOP lawmaker from a early primary state who has yet to endorse anyone in the race.
When your brothers been president and authorized the use of force and your father was president and authorized the use of force, the lawmaker added, thats a zone of certainty that question will be asked.
A handful of GOP senators huddling on Capitol Hill were incredulous Bush wasnt better prepared on the Iraq issue, joking about how many press aides he needed to answer such a basic question, according to an account in The New York Times.

He should learn from Hillary and just avoid the public altogether. Hillary is more popular when no one sees or hears her.
Jeb’s a proven idiot, people need to get used to that sad fact.
Bumbling’ Bush.. Must be genetic. ;-)

Jeb is a legacy, Otter.
Just keep Diggin, Jebby. You ain't ready for primetime.
In defense of Bush, which I support Cruz, I think it is a stupid and irrelevant question. I cannot imagine Thomas Dewey in 1948 being asked in retrospect, should the Arizona be pulled out Hawaii.
What pearl of knowledge do we know since 2002?
Jeb,is trying to coast into the White House on his family name.
As misguided as she is, this woman has proven once again, that it often only takes one dedicated ‘warrior’ to change the course of history.
She singlehandedly has changed Jebs course.
I predict this woman is going to cause lots of trouble for America in her lifetime.
Thanks for giving her a foothold Jeb.
The only reason he is even considered to be credible in any way is that he like GW has lined up a lot of financial support ahead of time. Other than that only past supporters take him seriously. The media would like him to prevail because it would aid in Hillary’s coronation.
..knowing what you know now, would you pick Duke or Wisconsin in the national championship game...?
Of course that is a very simplistic example. But questions of war and peace of different. Would you have wanted Operation Valkyrie in July of 1944 to have succeeded?
Gassy? Oh yes, quite so.
So, stands to reason they would be flabby and gassy
not by a long shot...
I was agreeing with you.....demonstrating the absurdity of the question by asking an even more absurd one.
thank you! LOL
I’m flabbergasted he wants to give so much of our country to third world people.
That is what happens when someone like Jeb thinks he’s headed for a coronation rather than an election. I expect Hillary to face much of the same. People who get used to power and riches tend to think they deserve it as if it were their birthright.
