http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20150514_SEPTA_train_hit_by_projectile_before_Amtrak_crash.html
the FIRST mention of the word projectile.....did not mention the AMTRAK train being hit by said object
it said...that the SEPTA train had been hit moments before the AMTRAK crash
I find this odd inconsistency in reporting just a bit disturbing
Correct. And the article in this thread is based on the claim of an amtrack employee who is a coworker of the engineer. Let’s not forget that union brothers and sisters may bend over backwards to protect each other, especially when pressured from higher up. This employee’s claims need to be independently verified.
(excerpt) "The windshield of the Amtrak train was shattered in the accident but one area of glass had a breakage pattern that could be consistent with being hit by an object, he said, and the FBI is investigating."
The SEPTA engineer relayed that hed had to apply the emergency brakes after his windshield was broken by a projectile or possibly a bullet.
She also believed that she heard [the Amtrak] engineer say something about his train being struck by something, Sumwalt said. This is her recollection, and certainly, we are going to be conducting further investigation of this comment.
Our investigation has not independently confirmed this information, but we have seen damage to the left-hand lower portion of the Amtrak windshield that we have asked the FBI to come in and look at for us, he said.
Seems to me their looking for bullets, not bricks.
