Conservatives meet in Tyson's Corner to whittle down 2016 list [Important]

Tyson's Corner, Virginia (CNN)—One hundred leaders in the conservative movement met behind closed doors Thursday as part of an attempt to consolidate support for their favored presidential candidates.

The Conservative Action Project convened the summit at the Ritz-Carlton in Tyson's Corner, Virginia to educate leaders of super PACs ranging from the Club for Growth and the Senate Conservatives Fund and activists from social-conservative organizations like the Family Research Council and the Eagle Forum.

The goal, according to two attendees, is to narrow the leaders' support to a few candidates by the next time the organization meets in October. Some of the nation's strongest social conservative leaders have expressed worry that their support will splinter among multiple candidates and that a Republican preferred by the party's business establishment could win the primary contest.

The movement conservatives have voiced a split between Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, and others.

"We're just hopeful that we can come up with a winning combination," said Lewis Uhler, the president of the National Tax-Limitation Committee....

Of course, the language of the trade bill is secret, so whether it is a good thing is only hearsay on hearsay, and a guess.

Hard to judge what you can’t see.

"How is that a total circumvention of the Constitution when Congress still has the ability to vote it down according to that bill?"

Well, mister Republican, are you aware that Article 2, Section 2, Clause 2 of the US Constitution requires a 2/3's Majority consent of the Senate for any International Treaty, but with Fast Track only 51 votes are required to ratify any agreement POTUS submits?

Are you, mister smart Republican?

“Is this a REPUBLICAN website? Surely even a newbie like you knows that is not the case:)”

Surely an old timer like you knows, in an election for President, candidates are filing for office with a Republican label or Democrat label for these largest two political parties. Under the Republican label, there are RINOS/liberals/on the fence/lefties/righties, then there is a true conservative TED CRUZ.

If you don't like a vote of his, go to his website and read, or send him a message to explain his vote. He knows exactly how to deal with Democrats in the senate and has a reason for voting like he did - you are not smart enough to figure it out, so ask him. I've read your posts on other threads - you are one who thinks he sees a chink in Cruz's armor and go off half cocked to stomp on him. I see you as a useless thorn, digging in just to dig in.

So? Then if your understanding of the Constitution as it applies to this bill is correct, it should be as simple as filing a lawsuit to have it overturned on constitutional grounds alone, right?

No, not true. Many bills are voted out of committee and never see the President's desk.

The Free Republic Freepathon is on - have you made your contribution yet? Maybe you are a monthly donor like some of us or maybe you are in the 300 club. You have been here so long surely you are supporting FR by donating. FR is pro Cruz, even if you aren’t and keep poking your thorns in him.

Everyone who hasn’t donated in this Freepathon, should take care of that right away.

Actually, what I should have said is that even though a cloture vote is taken and passes, all it does is end debate. There are plenty of bill that are voted past cloture and never see the President’s desk.

How did this really great post story get highjacked by happy Mr. Friggin Wonderful, anyway?

On the subject at hand, (clears throat) I’m really glad to see Phyliss Schlafley out there among these convening organizations, and Focus on the Family, etc.

I may not like who they back in the end, but I do like their idea of respecting the purpose of the National Convention, where money doesn’t buy the nominee, but the delegates do. A little brokerin’ goin’ on suits me just fine after decades of cascading cash squashes the race, demoralizes every voter and forces delegates into corners.

Loudon's a pretty persuasive speaker. Gets everybody fired up with that announce the cabinet strategy. I thought the suggestion of having several pairs of potential cabinet appointees delivering a consistent message at multiple rallies each day would just perplex the media to no end.

“It doesn’t matter who “conservatives” pick because there are no conservatives in the Republican Party. “

I agree, Ted Cruz is a TOOL OF KARL ROVE.

I was wondering about that. He’s clearly controlled by somebody. The fact that he’s saying and doing virtually everything the Republican base wants can mean only one thing: HE MUST BE CONTROLLED BY KARL ROVE.

Perhaps Rove is using him to prevent a REAL CONSERVATIVE from running, like Howard Baker, for example. That way we will be tricked into supporting Cruz, when his puppet master is Karl Rove.

There for I WILL NOT VOTE and no one else here should vote either...since all the candidates are really the same, since they are all CONTROLLED BY KARL ROVE, and even worse, they’re NO DIFFERENT from Hillary.

Not easy for me to be a troll, but this is the best that I can do. How was it?

If they met within 1000 miles of DC they are probably part of the problem.
