Tyson's Corner, Virginia (CNN)One hundred leaders in the conservative movement met behind closed doors Thursday as part of an attempt to consolidate support for their favored presidential candidates.
The Conservative Action Project convened the summit at the Ritz-Carlton in Tyson's Corner, Virginia to educate leaders of super PACs ranging from the Club for Growth and the Senate Conservatives Fund and activists from social-conservative organizations like the Family Research Council and the Eagle Forum.
The goal, according to two attendees, is to narrow the leaders' support to a few candidates by the next time the organization meets in October. Some of the nation's strongest social conservative leaders have expressed worry that their support will splinter among multiple candidates and that a Republican preferred by the party's business establishment could win the primary contest.
The movement conservatives have voiced a split between Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, and others.
"We're just hopeful that we can come up with a winning combination," said Lewis Uhler, the president of the National Tax-Limitation Committee....

Huck is a nice guy, I don’t question his Christianity, but he’s a populist, not a conservative.
It doesn't matter who "conservatives" pick because there are no conservatives in the Republican Party.
They’ve been doing this same thing election cycle after election cycle, ending in each case with a left-wing nominee, followed by this same crowd subsequently convening to plot the means to convince conservatives to vote for a nominee that stands for things conservatives profess to hate.
If as reported his Christianity led him to pardon killers to kill again, then his Christianity is misguided.
I believe Sen Ted Cruz from Texas is a true conservatism.
There’s a lot of that going on out there.
I agree, very misguided in this case.
Total circumvention of the Constitution.
Learn something.
Gee, Iguess you will be home on election day.
That will really help the country.
I still like that old’better to light one candle than curse ..........’
“All Republicans are toilet scum. It doesn’t matter who “conservatives” pick because there are no conservatives in the Republican Party.”
Hmm, why are you on this website? Who do you want for President? Yourself?
I believe it’s illegal to discuss a VP choice or a Cabinet selection prior to one’s election. It’s offering something the candidate may not be able to deliver.
hmm. Is this a REPUBLICAN website? Surely even a newbie like you knows that is not the case:)
Yes, I would make a far better President than anyone I know of that is running right now, based on the political positions I hold, and inviolable commitment to the Founding Principals and the US Constitution.
And when I speak before men, they are inclined to support my recommended course of action.
Usually with great argument and reluctance.
Go ahead, and grant your executioner absolution.
I don’t disagree with that.
Little high on yourself aren’t you tonight?
