Any additional info on the “projectile” that hit the train 20 or so miles before it jumped track?

Driver got distracted, disoriented, hit the throttle by mistake or ??

60 to 100 plus is pretty rapid acceleration in a short time.. Any downhill grade effect?

You really dont want to think it was intentional.. But it isn’t as rare as it used to be.

I believe that was a second, separate train that was struck k by the unknown projectile.

Projectile was a different train, but around the same time.

...A Philadelphia commuter train was hit by a projectile about 20 minutes before an Amtrak train derailed a few miles up the track...

“In barely a minute, its speed jumped from 70 m.p.h. to 102 m.p.h.”

Is that even possible?
