Something’s up...
RIP.
Thanks for posting this update. Very sad story. I love trains and I’ve taken that trip many times. May those who died rest in peace and many those who are injured recover.
A witness who was driving near the train said he saw a flash than a boom sound. Another witness only heard a boom sound.
God I hope no one place something in the tracks to derail that train on purpose. We all will have to wait. However, if it comes to be a terrorist attack, you think the media will report it as such?
He was paraphrasing what Dan Rather said on the morning of 9/11/01.
First thought....texting and not slowing down in the curve. So many texting accidents.
"I'm on @Amtrak train that just crashed. Im ok. Helping others. Pray for those injured," he wrote.
Okay, is it just me?... This is like taking a selfie. If, heaven forbid, I find myself in that situation and as soon as I feel everything stop?...
1.) I'm checking to see if I'm alive. Check. Good.
2.) I can move my limbs? Check. Good.
3.) See if anybody in my immediate vicinity needs assistance. Check. Okay, clear. Good
4.) Make sure I am out of danger. Check. Good.
5.) Look for more fellow passengers in need of help at least until I am escorted out by emergency personnel. Check. Good.
6.) Locate my phone and call an immediate loved one and ask that they contact others who may have concerns with my well-being...
Seems reasonable, right? But... "Im ok. Helping others."? Immediately jumping on Twitter?
"No ma'am, your leg shouldn't normally bend like that but let me post a message to my followers and I'll be right with you, hold still and quit your belly-aching. Hey, should "Amtrak" be in all caps?..."
Now, I feel as though I am looking skyward through grandmaw's eyes when I find myself repeating her oft-expressed, loving plea...
"Heaven help us..."
