Polls Show That John McCain is in Deep ... Without a Paddle
Red Statements ^ | May 6, 2015 | Steven Ahle

Posted on 05/11/2015 7:17:16 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Earlier this year, election watchers claimed that McCain was the most vulnerable senator facing reelection in 2016 and the polls show that is true.  Public Policy Polling (PPP) shows that McCain only has a 41% approval rating among republicans and a 36% approval rating among all voters.  Anything below 50% is considered dangerous for incumbents.  41% is considered catastrophic.  51% of republican  voters want someone more conservative than McCain.  Unfortunately, both Obama and Clinton are more conservative than McCain.

McCain who often bills himself as a “maverick” is more like a hobby horse that liberals ride to victory.  As he gets older and more senile, he keeps forgetting who his constituents are.  His top two primary opponents are very close to him and as they get better known that will get even worse for McCain.  McCain (Conservative rating 45%) leads Rep Davis Schweikert (CR 95%) by just 1 point with 21% undecided.    McCain leads Rep Matt Salmon (CR 91%) by just two points with 18% undecided.  Undecided voters always moves towards the challenger, usually by a 2-1 margin.

McCain has been very critical of conservatives in the senate who actually vote the way they told voters they would.  It is expected that the Tea party and other conservative groups will target McCain, who should have announced his retirement long ago.  Many voters are still angry from his last election in which he ran on the platform of “build the danged fence”.  Once reelected that went out the window and McCain voted for open borders and amnesty in a state that is very upset about the illegal alien problem.

His best chance of returning to the senate at age 80 is if he has several candidates running against him splitting the anti-McCain vote.  There are currently four candidates considering a run.  two have a legitimate chance but a third who trails far behind McCain has already formed an exploratory committee and is close to announcing.  Kelli Ward could be the spoiler that sends Obama, I mean Reid, err I mean McCain back to Washington.

I know, don’t rub it in. I really wanted KY and SC to throw those two out like we threw out the weasel Eric Cantor.

We have term limits in our hands if we vote them out.

How interesting.

That seems to be Ambassador Stevens walking beside McCain.

I agree that most of the GOP Senators should be replaced. Sessions, Lee, Cruz, Vitter maybe a couple of others are on our side and the rest are Democrats in R jerseys.

I don’t trust Madman McVain. If he loses the primary I would bet even money he would run as an independent to siphon votes from the Republican candidate to ensure the Democrat wins the seat. He only cares about himself. Can’t believe we nominated this idiot for the presidency.

I’ve been lurking for years before my signup date. I remember some of the posters that were purged and I’ve already tangled with some of the noseholders.

If only true. We seem to go through this every cycle with both McCain and Graham, and every time they survive. Let’s hope once and for al he will be shown the door. Of course I am apprehensive because I remember in 2010.....it was said here that he was a goner but he is politically alive still. I just don’t want him going out on his terms because that could be another 20 years or more.

One of my biggest political regrets is my delusion about “Voting for McCain to get Palin.”

I love Palin and would vote for her in a heartbeat. But voting that ticket only helped drive more power to the GOPe’s liberalism. I was a mistake.

The A team is largely though not fully on Hiatus. They will be back. The B team is currently out there trying their best to slime Cruz. You’ll know them every time you see something like “I like Cruz but...” Or the current fashion statement, “Ted Cruz just lost my vote!”

One of the biggest Lesser Evil bots is currently masquerading as a Cruz supporter to build his cred but only posts rarely lately.

He will turn those numbers around come campaign time so long as they don’t actually go below zero. He will become in his speeches very conservative and Constitutional and will be re-elected by all those Arizonans who had feared that he wouldn’t say the right things in the campaign. What he says in that campaign is all his voters care about. We had a long servng Democrat representative hereabouts who came on as the most solid down home conservative every two years but he always voted straight Democrat in the House. He kept getting re-elected in a very Republican district. He got smug and ran with a hint of being a tad less conservative than before and lost finally, to a Republican.

You’re spot on. I made the same mistake, for the same reason, and I harbor the same regret.

“Don’t they have open primaries?”
**************************************************************************
They have SEMI-open primaries. Meaning, of course, that many ‘RATS register as independents so they can choose which party’s primary to participate in. If McCain needs help they would likely go that route.

Conservatives need to determine THEIR candidate IN ADVANCE. They cannot afford to split the conservative vote yet again. Arizona does not have a primary run-off system, so that benefits the RINOs also.

I agree wholeheartedly. I was gonna sit the election out until he picked Palin, but a week after she was selected I knew McCain was already tanking the election, and he was letting the media and our own side tear her apart without really coming to her defense. I can’t stand the guy and I know he’ll be vindictive against conservatives when he loses the primary. He will run third party just to spite us and ensure a Democrat wins the Senate seat. I’d bet the ranch on that.
